Battle sister squad

Maybe I'm just extremely daft but I got confused when I was going to make a list for my Witch hunters recently and it wasn't covered in the GW FaQ. But do you pay any points for the obligatory superior* in the Battle sister units?

The way I see it you only pay for the 9 Sisters and the superior* is free (Optional to be upgraded of course) which can make a huge difference.

Thanks in advance.

It turns out that a Sister Superior is exactly the same in game terms to her squad-mates. You have to pay points for the veteran Sister Superior to get Faith, access to the armoury, etc.

Well, not exactly. I wish I could give the regular sisters bolt pistols and ccws.

but they are still weapon skill 3 strength 3.....I wish they had bolters, bolt pistols and frag grenades starting out
...but for the additional minimal outlay of points you do get and extra attack, an extra point of Ld, access to Acts of Faith and the option of giving them a bespoke wargear/weapon loadout.

Sisters aren't built for CC. You can boost them up using AoF and they can present a harder nut to crack in assault but they will pretty much always fair better using their bolters as appossed to HtH.

When I build a roster the cost of the vet supe is always included in the standard loadout of the squad along with the BoSL. Even with a standard sized squad of 10 that makes the average points per mini less than 13 which to me represents real value for a stubborn Ld9 unit with PA and 'rending' AP1 bolters that have a 2/3 chance of hitting and that's not even taking into account the other bells and whistles we get from AoF without any extra pts cost.

...oh yeah, that S3 can also be S5 if you use HotE. Sure you take the hit on the I but how often do we go first against the majority of a unit anyway?

I already knew that. My question was whether or not you pay any points for the obligatory sister superior (not the veteran) in Battle Sister squads.

The way I read it the sister superior is free and then you pay points to get a faith point and access to wargear and such.

As a side note I have edited my first post to not say 'veteran' as it's misleading. I apologies for any confusing caused by that.
