Fathoym
Pretty much as the name suggests. I field two units of Horrors in my Chaos Daemons army, but for the heavier hitting ranged powers T-heralds on chariots are generally accepted as the way to go. My question is however, is it worth taking 2 chariots, or 1 chariot and the Scribes? considering the Scribes are only fractionally more expensive than a chariot and with the ability to hide in either of the horror squads, which would generally perform better? Has anyone had much experience with the scribes? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/194088-t-herald-on-chariot-or-blue-scribes/ Share on other sites
Vassakov
I have, and they can be quite mean. However, I find the best way to use them is to hide them in a squad of Flamers, as this allows them to make the most of being Jump Infantry, plus as they are T3 and Flamers are T4 they can abuse majority toughness when they are getting shot at. It also means they can offset the cost of Bolt in a Flamer squad, and maybe even get it off twice. Or you can just add potentially two more Breaths to the squad. On the other hand, they are chronically fragile. T3, W2 and a 4++ is nothing in the metagame and any kind of concerted effort to kill them will do it - compare that to a Chariot with it's T4 and 4 Wounds. Plus, Soul Devourer and Furious Charge can mess up someone's day bigtime. If you want a dedicated Fire Support Platform, a Chariot is definately the way to go. For something that augments a unit, 9 times out of 10 I'd say the Bluescribes are better than a Herald, especially on a Disc. Primarch16
Chariot herald, basically. The scribes are nice, as they have LOTS of powers, and the power to use the same one twice, but they are far too weak! You cant really hide them in flamers (suicide unit, just offering kill points) and if you stick them in a unit of horrors then you lose the speed utility and risk being assaulted. Not good enough. Chariot ROCKS because you get an AP1 krak missile launcher, backed up with an AP3 heavy bolter, with the option to split fire if you take WAL, though its not that important. Oh and its a jetbike. It basically provides you with something to deal with those damn land speeders or anything generally fast with an armour value. Plus hes fast so he can hit side and rear armours. And to round it all off the thing is tough! With plenty of wounds and a decent ++, its going to take 10 wounds before it dies. Thats a lot of firepower its soaking up that isnt killing bloodletters. I run two in my army, a definate staple unit. And, considering the tournament's on Friday it'd be a bit too late to do anything about it if you decided to try and change my maind :) Cheers Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/194088-t-herald-on-chariot-or-blue-scribes/#findComment-2339346 Share on other sites
