hmk17
Nikea strikes me as a part of the dichotomy theme of the book. It also is a part of the greater theme of the Horus Heresy series, "What we know, we don't know". It's probably going to get played on by Abnett, if not it will be a shame. While we know the general events of the heresy, they have been scoped to us from 10k years of Imperial record then Imperial dogma. If we ask any soldier in the trenches during WW1 or farther back to the Napoleonic wars, American Revolution, Punic Wars, etc... the story will be different in scale, scope, and nation than the overview we know as history. The twists we see are the active fleshing of the skeleton of history. So what does Nikea mean now? Since we know that Librarians (esp. Blood Angels) were active defenders of Terra during the siege and that the Librarius exists in the 41st Millennium, makes sense that an emergency repeal might be enacted. With Malcador dead and the Emperor entombed on the Golden Throne at the end, its also sensible that Guilliman might have played a hand shaping the current interpretation as a part of establishing the Codex Astartes. Octavulg
What if some codices (Chaos codex) match up to the artbooks while the other remain ambiguous? Then we're in trouble, aren't we. :D Shrug, and accept the answer which has been declared the most or makes the most sense. Especially if they're the same. Lord Ragnarok
Finally finished the book. Gripping read. Although I always love SW first, I've always liked the Tsons and the tragedy of being loyal but disobedient. I can't wait for Prospero Burns though. As this is the Tson book is written from their point of view this is probably the most negative/bloodthirsty I've seen SW portrayed and I desperately want to read the counterpoint which will "right the ship". With respect to Canon...I agree with Gree. They can't be separated. Merrett sanctions all fluff in the novel sand if it's in the HH books then it is to be seriously considered as part of the fluff and not easily dismissed as an offshoot. One thing which is barely clear is if the maintained the fluff from False Gods, where the Emperor sent Russ to bring Magnus back versus attack prospero with all our might. It is implied, that Horus' trickery remains in effect with how Ahriman responded to the revelations from Wyrdmake. I also want to know what the hell Valdor was whispering in Russ' ear. This seems out of place as there was no discourse for the reader to hear these things. I suspect that these are in "Prospero Burns". I think at one point PBurns was supposed to release prior to ATsons.
