New GK plastics?

No I don't mean real GK plastics, sorry ;) . I do however mean the massively awesome Sanguinary Guard which will soon be winging (no pun intended) their way towards stores near you.

They have everything you might hope for GK conversions, they come pre made with hand attached bolters and what are effectively short force halbers. They also look awesome! Whether or not the wings/jump packs would make the transition is dubious but I can see them somehow becoming PAGKs or at least the personal bodyguard for my Emperor/GKGM when he doesn't feel like being escorted by GKT. Also i've always wanted some marines with torso sculpted armour, might be particularly good for Spartan/Iron Snake armies to, but also for GK bodyguards. Expect to see a painted squad of these guys within days of release :).

Thoughts?

I hate to say it, as I am clearly a minority of one, but I think they look kind of dorky. Then again I thought the new Space Wolves looked more like hobos that had broken in to the Armoury as well.

Dorks... and hobo's? Sounds EXACTLY like the Blood Angels and the Space Wolves! :) ;)

Actually, stoopicus ... I feel exactly the same way. :)

No, I am right there with you as well. I think the new death company models look great but the sang guard came out a little odd.

The drum fed bolters look awkward and the wings are just... wings. Really, wings on a jump pack?! Actually these wrist bolters make me appreciate the belt fed version on our gk metals even more. I like the Astorath model with wings but it seems like something that extraneous would be more the exception that the rule.

Anyway, back OT, I've found the robed marines from the DA sprue to still be the best basis for conversion to PAGK. Pick up the halberd bits pack and you've got a credible grey knight.

I still need to greenstuff or find a small book bit to cover the DA emblem on his chest. Any suggestions are welcome.

I will jump on this bandwagon. I would drop the GK's if our models had armor that looked like this. The detail is good but the design does not fit my tastes.

Personally, while I can see how this appeals to some aesthetics, I don't like them <_< Granted I also find it amusing that suddenly they have a lot of 'infernus pistols' (melta pistol) where once again an Inq. toy goes elsewhere. Now this becomes even more amusing with the fluff mention that the Storm Raven was once used by Grey Knights... *flips through DH codex* Ah well.. :P

Here is the explanation I found for the nipples. I finally got my hands on the codex. An interesting bit of fluff has the emperor counseling Sanguineous to temper his attitude towards the mere humans of the imperium. To that end, he tells his golden primarch to provide succor to the downtrodden. Unfortunately, Sanguineous hears suckle instead of succor. That misunderstanding has been passed down through the centuries as a tradition whereby the sanguinary guard require a delegation of any rescued humans perform such a function on their golden, nippley artificer armor. This, more than any death mask or threat of death is what causes most to run screaming from these imposing and somewhat maternal astartes.

On a side note, I really do think Matt Ward has some rather Freudian issues...

About the only use i can see for those is to use them as "counts as" seraphim, without compromising the "all PA-all the time" look for a GK army.

I cant honestly say these minis make me want to rush out and but them

some of the other BA releases however, are quite shiny.

-_- ^_^ :D

Seriously I laughed until I cried...

I could see using one of these buggers as an Inquisitor but not much else... to angelic for eight foot death machines.

Well I think with the nipples, the sculptor was trying to emulate the ancient greek armor, which looks similar.

Apparently, there is a lactation gland that only the Blood Angels have access to. People keep assuming that the Bloods Angels are secretly vampires, but the deep dark secret is their maternal instinct and desire to nurture the galaxy as a whole. If the other astartes found out about the lactation gland, the Blood Angels would be the laughingstock at all the intramural imperium tee-ball games.

It is only the sanguinary guard who have sufficiently mastered this gland who are allowed to administer lactation through specially designed armored nipples and even then only to the select few humans who survive the predations of any battle that involved the astartes. Frankly, the Blood Angels leadership would be grateful if their deep, dark secret involved something as wickedly cool as drinking blood. This whole business with the milk delivery system has tempted them on more than one occasion to discard the mantle of space marine and start an inter-galactic wet nurse service.

"Blood" Angels ... refers to something else entirely.
