TH and JOTWW

this came up a while ago, and was also questioned by people wanting to use arjacs thrown hammer (which my or may not have the thunderhammer 'stun' rule at range).

BRB p 42

Thunder Hammers: ...In addition, all models that suffer an unsaved wound from a thunder hammer and are not killed will be knocked reeling, reducing their Initiative to a value of 1 until the end of the next players turn...

Whilst the intention may have bee merely to have them count as I1 when making close combat attacks the wording clearly states that they have their I reduced to 1. the rules for characteristic tests make no mention of using the base profile so take into account certain modiications (obviously weapon/wargear modifiers are not counted) so the temporary reduction would be what the testis taken against.

However, JOWW requires LOS and so to be able to use this against the WL whilst it is locked in combat is going to be awkward and not always possible. If you can do it then kudos, but I would not rely on this as a surefire way to kill the WL.

Also don't forget due to the rules for JOWW the WL would count as having I2 (they can subtract one from their I test, so a 2 would become a 1) and as i know from fantasy and playing orks, just when you don't want your opponent to roll low they will... continually :D

In addition you couldnt target the wraith lord with JOTWW. Can't target a model in combat.

You would have to position the rune priest in a way to intially target a model not in combat and have it so the 24" line would then intercept the WL for it to work.

Alot of positioning to get this to work. JOTWW intial target has to follow the rules of pyschic shooting attacks.

This was my understanding.
