Chaos Rising

The campaign is nice with a far stronger story however I feel it was gimped in length and freedom to play. Another thing that gets up my noce is when they give you all the best stuff on the last mission so you can't use it. I also found myself getting annoyed with the amount of corrupting items, it seems that corruption is the easiest path to follow while Purity is just for those who feel like challenging themselves. Personally

martellus

was my traitor, however I found the twist that the space hulk reveals far more devastating. First I was getting annoyed at the cowardice but then it became clear...

I do feel that redeeming items were harder to find but I wager as soon as I become corrupt all the redeeming items come my way! And does anyone know who uses the

servo arm

because it doesn't say!

They are yet though to make cyrus worthwhile to me, he was useful in one mission and that was it however maybe others think he is the bee knees and is unbeatable! I still have one thing that annoys me: Squad cycling and rapid ability use is near impossible for me because I have to dart my hand around the keyboard and even when two squads have the same ability it isn't the same key nor will they do it as one if I order them both at the same time (which can screw up plans in a hurry).

all aboard the failbodon for the next DoW" expansion!!!

I have to say I'm loving Chaos in Multiplayer. The Chaos Lord is an awesome commander and will only get better next patch. I like how Chaos has alot of units that at first seem weak but when played right really shine. IE, Khorne CSMs. At first I was wondering why anyone would take them over the inferno bolt marines. But then I realised the plasma/melta pistol means they shoot really well on the run and if they get tied up in melee they will only do better, unlike the tzeentch marines.

Fun game so far, worth every penny.

I definately found that the corrupt path was easier. The abilities you get, particularly the global powers, are pretty nasty. In particular is the Force Commander's ability to revive and reinforce all squads. Tarkus using the traded in upgrade of the Blighted Bolter and Power Armor was just a killing machine, too.

I disagree about Cyrus, though. I found him to be more powerful than ever in the expansion. I only go far enough down the energy tree to get the very first ability that makes standing still while cloaked drain no energy. Then I get full health and ranged abilities. By level 30 I can also go down the melee tree far enough to get the smoke bombs. Combined with the grenade launchers you find in the expansion, this makes Cyrus a wrecking crew and reasonably tough as well. I didn't like Cyrus so much in the original but I love him in the expansion.

No-one. It's meant to be donated so you get a purified piece of gear instead.

well it WAS used ;) just noone in your team can use it :)

abit disapointed by some factors like the rest of you guys. not enough purity items for 1 thing. i also kinda miss the whole, random mission thingy.... there are still "optional" missions but if you want to be a purist you will ahve to do those anyway, cause otherwise your entire team will get corruption! arghhh....not really optional then is it?

looking forward to when im playing corruption, gonna let so many people die

theyre killing scouts you say? well better them then me, il be over there if you need me ;)

Yea, I think that the pure way is supposed to be harder because it shows how easy it is to fall to chaos. Somewhat demonstrates why chaos takes hold so easily to us. However I want to know why THEY GIVE YOU THE BEST STUFF ON THE LAST MISSON -rage rage, swear swear, rage, break something, rage, pass out, head explode-

Ha! I agree. But since I lost all squads TWICE trying to finish, I did get to see what I got. One was a nifty PA Thunderhammer. I really wish there was more stuff for the Termies in the game. Maybe the next expansion.

are you kidding me? i had the 3 armours from the first game and suddenly halfway 4 sets of termi armour got thrown into my lap+interest in the form of weapons for these....i was in full terminator armour from that point on....sucked all the challenge out of the game tbh...specialy since i also had piles upon piles of PA gear that id never use :)

Yeah, the balance between TDA and PA gear was strange in that one.

1) you use crappy PA armour but all the cool toys;

OR

2) you use kickass TDA but with a very poor weapon selection.

But the Dread become tons of pure awesome fun and win compared with the first one!

Yeah, I had the new Termie armor including the redeeming one. But the the weapon selections kinda suck. I only had like 1 good set of TH/SS. I only got a good set of "magic" lightning claws because I died on the last mission. I build my FC to be a CC god, not sit back and plink like Thule.

I did have Thaddeus decked out in the good armor with a power axe that gave him like 178 armor.

[rant]Why can the FC only have 1 commander upgrade? I'd love a teleporter with a banner. Why isn't the teleporter built in to the Termie armor anyway? Only Thaddeus knows how to use it or something? For a good game, I wish some stuff was closer to the tabletop. Maybe next game. [/rant]

Well, having the chance to put some hurt on Goto's little DIY, I went evil first time through. Gotta say, it was harder than being good. Now, some of you probably just called BS, but hear me out. There are a lot of redeeming items that are actually pretty good compared to their evil counterparts. The power sword that does +damage on CSM's in particular, and the fact that turning Orion into a healbot pretty much makes the final boss a pushover (what with the special Good bonus you get, so as to not need spoiler tags). I don't know, it seemed like a good amount of progression, although there were some pretty cheesy tricks you could play. Like having Cyrus stealth-plant a bomb and force all the AI's to scuttle into a corner, then either have Thaddeus telebomb in or have Thule Kool-Aid Man through the wall they're hiding next to and rushcrush them.

Eh, overall it was pretty nifty, but the pacing felt really jittery, as if the designers were forced at gunpoint to code this thing within a week.

lol kinda had the same idea when i was done with the campaign

Here's a thought: who else played uber-stealthy with Cyrus in that mission with the generators and

apothecary galan, which you had to kill

I did exactly that for my good playthrough. When I read the mission description I though instantly, 'Cyrus, this is your shining moment.' He did me proud.

Just spent 67 minutes on the last mission (captain difficulty) - only to crash during the monologue. :tu:

Edit: we both did, as it was a Co-Op game.

There must be some wierd error specifically related to that end monologue, I swear everyone I know gets it at least once.

Yep, it is by far an isolated incident. Many local DoW players get it as well + I've seen many threads on this very issue around the various forums.
