Roland Durendal
From a fluff point of view, I would be very tempted to use the BA rules for the Raven Guard. Use the new IA8 Raven Guard SC - Captain Korvyaen or something like that. He makes jump pack troops count as Troops and not FA.
Requiem of the Wolf
I would agree that any count's as should show some serious work in modeling, and should have some basis of logic. yeah only the rules for counts as use as supported by GW dont do anything like that. you point at a model that has generaly the same size and the same base and presto counts as done. Yes...but note my use of the word SHOULD...Someone that is doing it for serious reasons, will 99 times out of 100,put in the effort to make it look good and look right...Someone who is doing for a "one-off S&G game" obviously won't,and someone that is bouncing between codex;s to take advantage of the broken rules will obviously not. This being said,I wouldn't hold it against someone wanting to play a new codex, and using their old army's figs for it. Thats the easiest way to find out if you would like to play a different army...But really...more then one or two games, and you should be at least STARTING to get figs that actually represent what your playing as. Decoy
I'm actually eyeing an all-Swiftclaw-esque Wolf list. I've yet to piece together the details (And of course, I'd avoid any named characters or vehicles), but as an overarching theme, it seems like it should work fairly well. As in using the Space Marine codex so you can field Bikes as troops?
Decoy
Sorry, meant Skyclaws. I was a bit rushed for time, and I tend to use the two of them interchangeably. Specifically, a mostly-Blood-Claw jump-pack list, led by one or two "Wolf Guard" (VAS, maybe) to support. While it's possible in the Wolf dex, it's so incredibly unfeasible (250 points, just for the jump packs alone, for one Wolf Guard squad) that I would have maybe three squads total and next to no tactical flexibility. Marmande
Ah, I see. Not that an all-Swiftclaw army would be a bad idea, either...
Decoy
Indeed, Marmande... That, and an all "Iron" army... In fact, it's an (Extremely) long term goal to make an army representing every current Lord. Anyways, I stray afield. Thanks for the correction on the Skyclaws.

I've been using the Blood Angels codex to represent my DIY Shadow Hunters Chapter since 3rd Edition, and continue to do so now. I don't have any Death Company, as that doesn't make sense for my home-made Chapter, but everything else is pretty much fair game and can be "justified" without too much creativity. The Shadow Hunters are my 3rd fully painted army, and the genesis of their fluff is essentially a lightning strike, air and space mobile Chapter specializing in orbital assaults. The concept started with my general dissatisfaction of Roboutte's poorly written Codex Astartes, and the Blood Angels codex was the only way to implement my "vision" for how Space Marines ought to operate.
