Thunderhammers, Wolf Claws

Let's just say that I love the Thunderhammer models. Wolf claw pairs (Oh how we waited so long) are pretty snazzy too, but I'm not quite sure where they best serve! I thought Thunderhammers would really lay a hurt on tanks, but apparently I was mistaken, same with the Claws.

.. So where's the best place to have them, and what is the best use for them?

You mean the termies sprues or ordinary ones? With PA models, I put one TH on WG model which leads my scouts - so far I have not seen any amazing performance on his behalf apart of rolling "1"on to hit, but I like the look of the model. Sure, PF is cheaper, but I wanted some diversity and I already had three PF/CM modelled WG pack leaders for GH squads. I will in due time make some TWC conversions and I believe the rest of TH will have their place there :).

1: In the enemy.

2: Killing the enemy.

Seriously though. Thunderhammers; Laying low MCs, Walkers, laying the hurt on tanks (auto-stun if it hits, if I remember correctly, setting it up nicely for an explosive finale.)

Wolf Claws: Same role as above, but more utilitarian against non-MCs and non-Walkers. Picking and choosing your rerolls is nice, especially when in a squad with a Wolf Priest.

depending on what vehicles you are fighting Thunder Hammers (and power fists) are still pretty good. mostvehicles have armour 10/11 at the rear and in combat that is the armour you roll to penetrate. Chainfists only really become viable against the rare vehicles that have armour 13/14 on the rear and there aren't that many.

thunder hammers also reduce the I of any model wounded but not killed to 1 until te end of the next turn, meaning against big gribbly things you are almost certain to get a second round of attacks.

Wolf claws are infantry killers, pure and simple. they are ok agianst MCs (and any other high T unit) due to their ability to re-roll wounds but they are still not as likely to wound as a thunder hammer.

I take thunder hammers over wolf claws becuase i personally prefer both the look and the in game effects of them, however its your choice. If you are unsure take a mix of both.
