=][= scale GK

Hey guys (and gals),

Haven't been posting much lately but made up for that in modelling. Mu GS-fu is low but i gave an all time dream of mine a shot. I had an Artemis figure for as long as it has been out. In the past the €30,- figure was to precious and my skills to low to butcher so i assembled it as it came in the box and painted it to my best standards. (In those days black meant just an undercoat for me)

A couple of weeks ago I decided i would convert it into a GK. Here are some pics of it as it stands now.

Im aware of the fact there are little differences from the 40k scale model. Like the greaves and DW shoulder pad.

I'm quite pleased with the stormbolter however, It's a SM vehicle stormbolter with land raider assault cannon bullet feeds.

Tell me what you think!

I like it. I think the Nemesis Force Weapon turned out very well, and I very much like the lettering you were able to do on the chestplate. It will look even cooler I think when it's all painted up!

My only critique is that the right hand (the one holding the glaive) looks a little strange without articulated fingers. Granted you could be going with more of a mitten gauntlet approach, but that doesn't fit the style of the articulated power armor gauntlets. That will be a trick to Green Stuff though (as I also tend to stink with the stuff... about the only compicated thing I'm able to do now with it is hair).

A very nice conversion all the same! I look forward to seeing hopefully a painted photo of it.

Whoops! sorry guys forgot to mention that, as Hellbreaker said, His right hand is actually just tacked on for posing purposes. Artemis' right hand won't do as it's holding a bolter and thus is posed entirely wrong. I also removed the gear from under his foot, thinking a rock will give a better look. He has a bolt going up his left foot at the moment so he is still detachable from this WIP display base.

The reason his head and NFW are primed black with blotches of GS is that I find GS incredibly hard to get flat. So what I do is create something in GS as smooth as possible, then prime it, and finally sand it down again. All the Green patches is where the GS was applied a fraction of a millimeter to thick.

Anyways, Right hand is coming up tomorrow (if my 1,5 years old daughter permits)

That's because he's pinned. The torso and head are still seperate for painting purposes but the torso is hollow. that means he leans back a bit much.

I haven't been able to build the hand yet, despite my wishes to do so last saturday, having some trouble with my taxes, so spent almost all saturday on that.

Hope to update this week though.

Any thoughts on what to place under his foot instead of just random SM weaponry?

Alas, I don't own her, she would make a fine companion for my GK though. If i'ld do a severed Daemon head (a slim chance), I would also like the rest of the body somewhere on the base.

I'll look in my "huge box of never finished terrain pieces" later this evening.

Actually, on the ammo chain... i think i recall reading somewhere their storm bolters hold only so many rounds, because its and internal magazine... Im trying to find it again and will repost if i find it, but i'm nearly positive...

Maybe that's from the actual =][= game? the 40k 3E PAGK models however all have this kind of ammo feed.

I was wondering for a while about the size of the =][= models.

This pic shows the 28mm and 54mm versions of my Inquisitor, unfortunately I can't find a picture of my marine next to a human, but he's on the same size (40mm) base as my Inquisitor so you can get an idea of his size.

But back to the Grey Knight; that's some nice work with the helmet - I've seen Defiler heads used a few times on Chaos marines, but never on a Grey Knightbefore. The halberd is very nice too. I'd be tempted to repose his legs a little though - make it so he's standing with both feet flat on the ground and rotate his hip section forwards to get rid of the backward lean.

I still have so much stuff I'm doing, including 17 IST, 25 Retinue members for my =][=, several PAGK, 3 tanks and a stormlord. They are all modelled but I hate (i.e. suck at) painting. This model will get finished and painted though. be it slowly.

I used a closed empire flagellant book for his "Daemonhunters cookbook", his right shoulder will be filled with heraldry. His hand is coming along nicely. Right after I built the armature of his hand out of GS, i committed the ultimate GS sin. I tried to add more detail but the underlying structure wasn't fully dry. Needless to say his "white tack oven mitten" looked just as good as his "green stuff oven mitten". I'm ready to add fingers now, though that'll have to wait till Wednesday I think.
