Gresiloth
I have recently been blasphemously altering loyalist models to the cause of the Plague Father - there is no denying that you imperial sheep have some sexy metal models to take advantage of! Here are some WIP shots of Chaplain Cassius of the Ultramarines... http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i211/ashbeyj/All%20Shall%20Rot/100_2159.jpg http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i211/ashbeyj/All%20Shall%20Rot/100_2160.jpg Lots of work still to do! C&C very welcome. By the way the scythe shaft is VERY unfinished, that's just the basis. Tutteman
Thats one nice...ummm, hideous model that you've converted/defiled  Nice work :) (NOW we know why he's so tough) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/194543-chaplain-cassius-nurgle-conversion/#findComment-2314240 Share on other sites
daemonclaw
great work so far ,are you going to make the staff more woodlike or go metal or organic? also i cannot place the staff is it a GW piece or converted bits Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/194543-chaplain-cassius-nurgle-conversion/#findComment-2314358 Share on other sites
Gresiloth
I haven't really decided yet about the shaft texture, wood might be the way forward or I might try some cloth wrapped around it. It is simply made out of his crozius thing as seen below but with the wings cut off and extended with wire. The blade itself is a close combat weapon from the WFB Chaos Knights plastics. http://www.games-workshop.com/MEDIA_CustomProductCatalog/m1240809_99060101302_SMUMCassiusmain_445x319.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/194543-chaplain-cassius-nurgle-conversion/#findComment-2314368 Share on other sites
Gresiloth
Ok here's what I've done to cover the scythe shaft: http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i211/ashbeyj/All%20Shall%20Rot/100_2162.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/194543-chaplain-cassius-nurgle-conversion/#findComment-2314558 Share on other sites
jester_prince
Im not a fan of how you covered up the shoulder pad, t looks a bit large, but thats my only crit on a fantastic looking mini. Now defile Calgar. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/194543-chaplain-cassius-nurgle-conversion/#findComment-2314602 Share on other sites
Gresiloth
Thanks for the comment - I think I kind of agree with you it looks too bulky! I might scrape it off and try something with tentacles to hide the insignia instead. Gresiloth
Slight green stuff update, re-done the shoulder, removed the Tyranid from his base and given him a spikey backpack. Any thoughts on the base? I'm undecided about the tentacle arms. I think he's pretty much ready to paint now though. http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i211/ashbeyj/All%20Shall%20Rot/100_2165.jpg http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i211/ashbeyj/All%20Shall%20Rot/100_2166.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/194543-chaplain-cassius-nurgle-conversion/#findComment-2320352 Share on other sites
Shortsonfire79
Wow thats wonderful. Its a good thing you have a base now, I was going to question what was up with his legs in the first few posts :P Your greenstuff skills are pretty good! The body-tendrils and the staff cloth looks really good! And the way the belly is wrapped with the chain is good too. Alpha PTP
The model is way too top-heavy. You need to convert the lower half of the model some to make it look balanced. Terrible_Trygon
Stumpy legs is something many metal marine models suffer from, but it can be remedied. Chop the lower and upper legs in half and pin them back together, leaving a gap to extend them slightly. It should solve the problem. S. Bloodhowl
Awesome model so far, but theres something not quite right with the bolt pistol arm at the shoulder joint if you ask me. Looks too low and too far forward. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/194543-chaplain-cassius-nurgle-conversion/#findComment-2374923 Share on other sites
Gresiloth
I see what you're saying, although it is actually glued exactly where it's meant to be. I filled the joint with some GS, so maybe that's what makes it look a bit different to his right shoulder. Emperor's Scourge
I wasn't a fan of the right shoulder pad because it still look overly large, but looks much better painted. Good job. Asrech
Very col conversion mate, The scythe came out nice and doing his bonic/metal face as bone worked great as a rotting nurgle conversion. S. Bloodhowl
I think to fix the right shoulder you need only to raise it up a bit at the top with some GS Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/194543-chaplain-cassius-nurgle-conversion/#findComment-2375390 Share on other sites
Gresiloth
Hmm, I'm a bit confused because if anything the shoulder is bulkier than it was due to the green stuff layer. On the original model the shoulder is basically like that anyway: http://www.games-workshop.com/MEDIA_CustomProductCatalog/m1240809_99060101302_SMUMCassiusmain_445x319.jpg But maybe I've just glued it fractionally further forward? Perhaps painting the inner edge (armpit area) a dark colour would help? Burias-Drak'shal
I like the paint scheme, and the basing looks really good also. I agree with previous posts that the bolt pistol arm doesnt quite look right. I think its a mixture of youve glued it slightly further forward, the actual should pad is slightly thicker, and the detailing on the shoulder pad makes it look larger aswell. I think that your suggestion of painting the inside edge of the shoulder pad a darker colour would certainly help.
