kaneda21
After 10 years of lurking and stalking around the WH40K forum pages, stores, etc I finally decided to put together an army. Bein' a complete noob at painting and modeling besides architecture models I build for university & work I have no experience. My goal to build an army that is competely individualized. Here is my first set of scouts inspired from this website: http://space-wolves-grey.blogspot.com/2009...onversions.html I found this scouts to be a little too static for my liking but it was a good starting point. Theme for my scouts: Right shoulder pad to be the drapped/covered with a wolf pelt, the idea bein' to "hide" their company/squad markings since they are deep in enemy territory. Left shoulder pad to be a MK6 Corvus Studded Shoulder Pad, I wanted again a pad that wouldn't necessarily be good for having the army insignia on, ie keepin' them some what covert... also the studs provide that aggressive theme and I can picture them if need be charging in shoulderin' a person in a last minute attempt at doing damage to the enemy if disarmed or out of ammo etc. (I know, too many fantasy/sci fi novels) Hahah but like I said I want an army that will tell a story  Group shot in a "V" formation. http://i911.photobucket.com/albums/ac311/kaneda21/WH40K%20SWScouts/1.jpg Here is the Leader of the Squad taunting "bring it" http://i911.photobucket.com/albums/ac311/kaneda21/WH40K%20SWScouts/2.jpg http://i911.photobucket.com/albums/ac311/kaneda21/WH40K%20SWScouts/3.jpg http://i911.photobucket.com/albums/ac311/kaneda21/WH40K%20SWScouts/4.jpg LOL our last action hero dashing forward with 1 handed shotgun & short sword http://i911.photobucket.com/albums/ac311/kaneda21/WH40K%20SWScouts/5.jpg http://i911.photobucket.com/albums/ac311/kaneda21/WH40K%20SWScouts/6.jpg http://i911.photobucket.com/albums/ac311/kaneda21/WH40K%20SWScouts/7.jpg http://i911.photobucket.com/albums/ac311/kaneda21/WH40K%20SWScouts/8.jpg http://i911.photobucket.com/albums/ac311/kaneda21/WH40K%20SWScouts/9.jpg This model has a few issues, 1 I find his pistol arm is too high, need to level off & 2 his 1 leg is too long "unproportional" He's our other rash scout charging forward with axe & pistol http://i911.photobucket.com/albums/ac311/kaneda21/WH40K%20SWScouts/10.jpg http://i911.photobucket.com/albums/ac311/kaneda21/WH40K%20SWScouts/11.jpg http://i911.photobucket.com/albums/ac311/kaneda21/WH40K%20SWScouts/12.jpg http://i911.photobucket.com/albums/ac311/kaneda21/WH40K%20SWScouts/13.jpg Supporting cover fire scout sportin' a Bolter for a little "spray and pray" - Not finished yet, still need a studded pad http://i911.photobucket.com/albums/ac311/kaneda21/WH40K%20SWScouts/14.jpg http://i911.photobucket.com/albums/ac311/kaneda21/WH40K%20SWScouts/15.jpg http://i911.photobucket.com/albums/ac311/kaneda21/WH40K%20SWScouts/16.jpg Finally our "floater" equiped with dual pistols & a short sword/knife. - Not finished yet, still need a studded pad http://i911.photobucket.com/albums/ac311/kaneda21/WH40K%20SWScouts/17.jpg http://i911.photobucket.com/albums/ac311/kaneda21/WH40K%20SWScouts/18.jpg http://i911.photobucket.com/albums/ac311/kaneda21/WH40K%20SWScouts/19.jpg Group shots http://i911.photobucket.com/albums/ac311/kaneda21/WH40K%20SWScouts/20.jpg http://i911.photobucket.com/albums/ac311/kaneda21/WH40K%20SWScouts/21.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/194563-wip-space-wolf-scouts-conversion/ Share on other sites
Night Runner
A lot of great work here. I especially like the use of the shoulder pads and with the marauder cavalry heads you can never go wrong. The poses are very dynamic - a big improvement from the way they are out of the box. Congrats, I hope to see more! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/194563-wip-space-wolf-scouts-conversion/#findComment-2314503 Share on other sites
Valerian
Your models look great; well done! Be advised, however, that our Wolf Scouts can no longer get Shotguns in the newest codex - you may want to swap that out. If you intend to play with them, I'd highly recommend you replace that Shotgun with a Meltagun. Regards, V Damn Val, I'm so rusty with the new dex (played all of 2 games so far in 6 months....ugh), I didnt even catch that. yet more conversions I'll have to break out for my current wolves. Being broke is no fun when you have an entire army to convert! To the OP, great job on the conversions. Gameplay-wise, not a very viable option, but hey, looks great if you are going for theme-based modeling! CainTheHunter
I like them! I also concur with Valerian and suggest to swap shotgun for meltagun - to make it codex legal, as well as because meltaguns, being held two-handed, for some reasons are very difficult to equip on scout models - the hands just don't come together, so I modelled my melta-scout holding it in one hand and throwing grenade with the other. But dynamics of Your shotgun scout are awesome! Schertenleib
Okay. I know about the shotgun, but two bolt pistols? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/194563-wip-space-wolf-scouts-conversion/#findComment-2316197 Share on other sites
GI Joker
Just count the double pistol guy as a pistol/ ccw dude. I have one in my scout squad. I also made use of the marauder heads. They look great, very dynamic. I concur that you should switch the shottie for a melta gun, they are very useful in game as well.
