I would like to start off this thread by saying that this list is no-way fully comprehensive. It is taken from a number of sources over a few years. I just feel that with such a wealth of knowledge out there the B&C was the best place to display this. Below is as complete a list as I can render of the Ultramarines Chapter named marines.

Who knows, if its good enough it may even make the Librarium!

Also, if anyone feels I have missed someone, which no doubt I have :), please tell me and it will be corrected!

Ok, with no further ado I present the warriors of Ultramar in all their glory

Oh, and Keorn Asata (Carne asada? Nyuck nyuck nyuck!) was also the 2nd company captain, in addition to his Mastership.

Would Captain Uriel Ventris really count as the current 4th Company Captain?

He was after all banned from the Ultramarines in "Dead Sky, Black Sun".

Has there been any new books about him or some such after that which I have missed?

I realize this may add to the work time here Corpus but you may want to site your sources for the names the way others have done. Would help folks who wants to go back and see what context the name(character) is used in.

Thanks Kurgan, I can see how this would be better all round! :tu:

Well, as long as names are being collected and counted.

Not really a Ultramarine per say, but important enough to be entrusted with the Ultramarines Geneseed:

Lieutenant Pilot Varras from the Battle for Macragge (Boxed Set).

Brother-Sergeant Octavian of the Ultramarines 2nd Company, leading Squad Octavian in the rescue of Lieutenant Pilot Varras from the Battle for Macragge (Boxed Set - Mission 02).

Could he be the same Octavian as listed in other Companies?

Brother Septimus. A Marine from Squad Octavian who seems to be technically adept.

From the Battle for Macragge (Boxed Set - Mission 03).

Brother Arrain. A Bolter wielding Tactical Marine from Squad Octavian.

From the Battle for Macragge (Boxed Set - Mission 04).

Brother Atreus of Squad Atreus, coming to reinforce Squad Octavian.

From the Battle for Macragge (Boxed Set - Mission 4.1).

Sergeant Galonis.

From the Battle for Macragge (Boxed Set - Mission 07).

Squad Quintis

From the Battle for Macragge (Boxed Set - Mission 07).

No name of its leader is given, but given the naming Squad convention of the Battle for Macragge Box set missions, we can assume there is a Brother Sergeant Quintis

Squad Guardatus

From the Battle for Macragge (Boxed Set - Mission 08).

No name of its leader is given, but given the naming Squad convention of the Battle for Macragge Box set missions, we can assume there is a Brother Sergeant Guardatus

Ancient Ferrox, a Dreadnought of the 2nd Company.

From the Battle for Macragge (Boxed Set - Mission 09).

Agemman, Captain of the Ultramarines

Here are a few more entries:

Daceus, Librarian. p 54 Codex 4th ed.

Dreadnought Ferrous´ full name is: Ideus Ferrous. p. 57 Codex 4th ed.

Techmarine Adronicus. p. 58 Codex, 4th ed.

Sergeant Severian. p 62. Codex, 4th ed.

Sergeant Cornelus of Devestator Sqd. p. 64. Codex, 4th ed.

Note that a Cornelus has already been mentioned in relation to a Dev. squad in the list, but I mention him again due to his sgt. status.

Captain Caito Galenius, Master of the Marches and 5th Company. - p. 13 Codex, 4th ed.

He is probably the same as Captain Galenus of the 5th., but note the subtle difference in the names...

Galenius vs. Galenus

Also, wasn't there a: Fabian, Captain of Third Company ?

Would be real nice if the characters faces could also be included in the article, where possible.

Taken from model photos, artwork and the like.

Ok, been searching around a bit and apparently I remembered correctly:

There is indeed a Commander Fabian. His full name is "Mikael Fabian" and he is the Commander of Third Company, taking over after Captain Ardias who was killed by the Tau during the Damocles Gulf Crusade, in 745.M41.

Supposedly this info can be located in the Second edition of Codex Tyranids, in reference to the battle for the Ultramarines´ Polar Fortress. - But someone else will have to confirm it.

Yeah, I can confirm. He fought a hive tyrant. Took it out with his plasma pistol, if I recall correctly.

I knew there was a Captain Fabian, he's listed all over the place as the Captain of the 3rd I thought. I had no idea that his name was Mikael though.

Hold on...I'll find my guide to the Captains of the Ultramarines....

Updated

CURRENT COMPANY COMMANDERS:

1st Co.: Agemman

2nd Co.: Cato Sicarius

3rd Co.: Mikael Fabian

4th Co.: Veteran Sergeant Learchus (acting commander until a replacement for the exiled Ventris is promoted)

5th Co.: Caito Galenius

6th Co.: Epathos

7th Co.: Ixion

8th Co.: Numitor

9th Co.: Sinon

10th Co.: Antilochus

1st Company

CAPTAIN TIBERIUS:

CAPTAIN INVICTUS AND THE 1st COMPANY: Over 250 years have passed in the Imperium's timeline since the appearance of Hive-Fleet Behemoth and The Battle of Macragge in which Invictus and the entire 1st Company of the Ultramarines died in a heroic last stand defending the planet's northern polar defence fortress. Invictus and the 1st Company have passed onto being being some of the most legendary heroes of the Ultramarines, and war-crys when fighting against Tyranids often include "Remember the First". Since then, the 1st Company has been slowly rebuilt and fully half their number includes Marines who've fought in various wars with the Tyranids (including warriors from The Battle of Macragge itself) and have been trained by Master Chaplain Cassius in the art of Tyranid slaying. Those warriors are known as the Tyrannic War Veterans or prehaps less officially as the Tyranid Hunters. He was previously the Captain of the 3rd Company.

CAPTAIN AGEMMAN (current): Upon the death of Captain Invictus the promotion to fill his legacy fell to the 2nd Company's mighty leader, thus Agemman became the 1st Captain and left the 2nd Company's comand position empty. The adjustment in the Chapter's color scheme, especially among the 2nd Company (all bolters turning from red to black, and the 2nd Company's trim colors becoming gold instead of yellow), was due to 1st Captain Agemman's pesonal reinterpretation of the Codex Astartes' tactical marking guidelines.

2nd Company

CAPTAIN AGEMMAN: (See 1st Company.)

CAPTAIN CATO SICARIUS (current): Upon the promotion of 2nd Captain Agemman to the captaincy of the 1st Company, 5th Captain Sicarius was granted the captaincy of the 2nd Company. (Due to the Medusa Campaign and his model, there is no doubt additional information on Sicarius) To fill his place as 5th Captain, a Marine named Galenius (presumably a member of the 1st Company or a high ranking officer) was promoted to the position.

3rd Company

CAPTAIN INVICTUS: (See 1st Company.)

CAPTAIN ARDIAS: Shortly before The Battle of Macragge, the Ultramarines' 3rd Company participated in an ill fated retaliation against the Tau Empire. This conflict was where 3rd Capatain Ardias lost his life, shortly before urgent orders called the 3rd Company to withdraw back to Macragge in order to defend against the impending Tyranid advance. He was replaced by Captain Fabian.

CAPTAIN MIKAEL FABIAN (current):

4th Company

CAPTAIN GAIUS:

CAPTAIN IDAEUS: Up until the present (999.M41), 4th Captain Idaeus led the 4th Company with great success and admiration, though with very little regard for the strict adherance to the Codex Astartes that the Ultramarines find fundamental. During a battle on the planet Thracia, Idaeus led the defense of a vital bridge against the overwhelming forces of a traitor Imperial Guard regiment. Upon the appearance of forces from the Night Lords Chaos Legion, Idaeus sacrificed his life in a final attempt to destroy the bridge and halt the enemy advance. Shortly before his sacrifice Captain Idaeus bestowed his self-forged power sword upon his trusted friend Veteran Sergeant Uriel Ventris, effectively marking him as his successor in the 4th Company's leadership.

CAPTAIN URIEL VENTRIS: (his exploits are detailed in the "Ultramarine Trilogy" consisting of the books "Nightbringer", "Warriors of Ultramar" and "Dead Sky Black Sun")Not long after his promotion to the command of the 4th Company, Captain Uriel Ventris found himself on a mission to protect a ministorium adept and stop Dark Eldar raiders on a world whose stability relative to The Imperium had severely deteriorated. During this mission the rebirth of the C'Tan Star God known as the Nightbringer was brought about. Captain Ventris was the first warrior to stand against the Nightbringer after it's reawakening into the galaxy. Eventually, as Captain Idaeus before him, Captain Ventris began to disregard the Codex Astartes but, unlike Idaeus, Uriel Ventris was eventually exiled from the Ultramarines Chapter and commanded to seek his death fighting against the enemies of Mankind in the Eye Of terror.

5th Company

CAPTAIN PRIMUS:

CAPTAIN CATO SICARIUS: (See 2nd Company.)

CAPTAIN CAITO GALENIUS(GALENUS?) (current): The codex mentions Galenius leading his company of death (the fifth, likely due to the black trim) against the orks ands decimating them. For this victory the Laurels of Victory were added permanently to the company banner.

6th Company

CAPTAIN EPATHOS(EPATHUS?) (current):

7th Company

CAPTAIN IXION (current):

8th Comapany

CAPTAIN MAXIMUS:

CAPTAIN NUMITOR (current):

9th Comapny

CAPTAIN CASSIUS:

CAPTAIN SINON (current):

10th Company

CAPTAIN ABRAXXON:

CAPTAIN ANTILOCHUS (current):
