Chaplain Orad is the chaplain at the time of the 2nd Company's Assault on Black Reach (from the novel). Not sure if he is the successor or predecessor of Elianu Trajan in the Codex. He is one cool guy. Scipio Vorolanus describes him as having one eye that is lidless and did not know if it worked or not. His teeth showed despite his mouth being closed because I think he had gotten it from a Tyranid acid sometime before. I picture him kind of like a Jonah Hex. Edited by Brother Kendall

I believe that the roster in the Codex represents the Company in 999/M41, while the Black Reach action took place some years earlier.

Um, not sure if you missed this but the 8th company is called 'The Honourblades'

Cheers

Keil

Indeed they are. I think I may have missed that. It'll go into the next update I do

It is interesting to note that while the top image on page 153 of the Horus Heresy Collected Visions is clearly of an Ultramarine, and that entire section is dedicated to the Ultramarines, the text under the image says: "Captain Ventanus * Blood Angels".

He is clearly supposed to be an Ultramarine though, so it must be a typo.

Captain Ventanus is already listed as an Ultramarine in the records here.

Captain Lucius Mysander of the Ultramarines.

Is somehow not in the list. He is on p 158 of the Horus Heresy Collected Visions.

It is also interesting to note that while squad Telcion from p 158 of the Horus Heresy Collected Visions, is listed as a Scout Squad, it looks nothing like one. - In fact it looks more like a Veteran Squad.

On p 164 of the Horus Heresy Collected Visions, Guilliman, onboard the Macragge's Honour, asks Shipmaster Helvatius for a damage report.

It does not say if Shipmaster Helvatius was a Marine, but he must clearly have been the most trusted of Guilliman's shipmasters to be allowed to command Guilliman's flagship - especially during such troubled times as the Horus Heresy.

No idea. Go for it. If you can give additional info for each Marine beyond just his name and the fact that he's dead (such as rank, Squad type the Marine belonged to, how he died, etc) that'd be great.

Righto. I'm not sure what information I can gleam, but I'll take notes on this read through, I go on vacation tomorrow so I'll start then. It's a short novel, so it shouldn't take long. I do remember it mentions a techmarine, chaplain, ven. dread, and senior vet sgt at least, and some other marines might be named.

EDIT:

It makes no sense to post again when I have a perfectly good post here.

Iron warriors LE novel 5th company roster, all KIA on ramilles star fort Indomitable save for Altarion, who was posessed by the daemon prince M'Kar the thrice born and killed by captain Ventris in assistance of chapter master Calgar, described in The Chapter's Due.

Brother Altarion, Dreadnought, named P21, listed as being equipped with a seismic hammer(p22 diagram as well, meltagun affixed) and assault cannon(p55). It's hinted on p 64 that he was a member of 1st company, and confirmed on page 72. It's also mentioned that he fought(and presumeably was wounded) in the battle for McCragge, but since the entirety of 1st was wiped out I have to assume he was elevated to 1st afterwards.

Hestian, Techmarine 5th company. Tended to brother Altarion. Died in scrapcode attack by adept Cycerin of the dark mechanicus whilst tending to the information defense of the central bastion.

Lucian, Techmarine company unknown. Tended to Altarion 2 centuries prior, dec.

Sgt. Olantor 5th company. Assigned to the indomitable for 10 years prior to the book, appears to be nominally "in charge" of the defending forces since Altarion is a little...out of it for the entire book. named on p22. Apparently equipped with a powersword, and killed by Grendel via melta shot. So much for honor.

Sgt. Decimus 5th company. Led another squad of ultramarines on the star fort indomitable, named P29.

Brother Tanicus, named p 54.

Brother Braxus, named p54.

Unnamed Chaplain, P65. Has the dubious honor of getting killed within a few paragraphs of appearing.

I was suprised on a reread how many non codex compliant things I spotted in this book. Tacticals with CCWs, dread with seismic hammer w/melta and an assault cannon, etc. Well hey, at least it had thunderfires. ;)

Reading through "Courage and Honour" now and here, from page 194., are some names I believe are not in the list:

Now deceased, but having served as Assault Marines under Chaplain Clausel, in the war against the Tau on Pavonis:

Brother Phaetus

Brother Ixios

Brother Ephor

That was weird, just read that section about an hour ago!

I just went through the first page and I didn't see the name of the Captain from 2nd edition 40K who was quoted as saying "Only a mad man knows no fear. A warrior knows what fear is. He feels it in his stomach..."

It's a great excert.

Thing is, I can't remember the guys name or whether it was in the Codex Imperialis or the Rule Book. I'm thinking rulebook, in the begining of the psycology section?

The guy had a french name, which is funny considering the current trend of names, but makes sense before they put the Ultramarines fluff into Roman and Greek Marines, as Roboute Guilliman is a little french eh :)

Really? My memory told me it was a difference name completely, as I saw that in the list. Sure it began with M. (Not that I doubt our esteemed resident Chief Librarian, but I'm running up stairs to check right after this).

***Right just checked and as always, Brother Pariah was correct! For some reason I remember the guy being called Marquis De Sade or something?***

That would have been seriously weird. Lionel Johnson is obscure; de Sade is a household name.
