Justicar Valius
Ok coming from a fluff nut, here is the one time definitive answer: NO Though we don't know what geneseed the Exorcists used... apart from that NO! Brother_Kaelgrim
I asked this question myself in the DiY section just a short while ago. Its not really a possibility because the effort a successor chapter would take could be better spent on just making MORE grey knights. Sondosia
Has anyone read the short story Headhunted in the Heroes of the Space Marines book? That supposedly gives hints to the origins of the Exorcists and the the ties they might have to the Grey Knights. Ozybonza
It wouldn't surprise me if they retconned/updated the fluff to give GK some successors or possibly something similar, given the renewed focus other chapters have had on their successors recently. The fact that GK are so "mysterious" more or less gives them artistic license to do whatever the hell they want and just make it one more mystery that has been "revealed" rather than "retconned". FallenLion
is it worth even trying it? I think GK look awesome and force weapons that they use. In fact what I'm going to do is create a successor chapter called Fallen Lions DA gene-seed full of Chapys/libbys and phykers in general xD will be green/grey use GK force weapons etc any ideas??? Brother_Kaelgrim
If you merely want a chapter with plenty of psykers, why not play Blood Ravens? Or heck, go with a Blood Ravens successor (far more likely than a GK successor) There you go, prebuilt fluff for a high psyker chapter and you can pick your color :) You probably do NOT want to name a DA chapter the Fallen Lions, unless of course you were maybe making a Chapter of the Fallen who haven't turned to Chaos? (though thats a bit obvious if you ask me) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/194641-grey-knight-sucessors/#findComment-2316771 Share on other sites

(though thats a bit obvious if you ask me) well I'm currently doing a DA army but only got a battle-force - literally just the SM battle-force box and I'm getting the assault on black reach soon but tbh the DA paint scheme is boring me already xD so I'm looking at new ideas for 'unique' looking army and a DA + GK chapter would be awesome in my opinion black/green power armor with grey/cream robes and nemesis force weapons/ storm-bolters is a create look for an army (well it is in my head anyway) any ideas welcome and I'm starting a new thread/topic on this for more idea's so if your at all interested in this idea then let me know and i'll pm you the link :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/194641-grey-knight-sucessors/#findComment-2316929 Share on other sites
Validar
remember that you can always do a SM force and take along a few Grey Knights. No, it won't be the most point-effective tournament list out there, but it will have awesome models :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/194641-grey-knight-sucessors/#findComment-2317027 Share on other sites
FallenLion
yeah I could BUT DA and GK won't work will it also I not planning on playing anytime soon purely artistic hobby - painting / conversions Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/194641-grey-knight-sucessors/#findComment-2317346 Share on other sites
Brother_Kaelgrim
In that case, just say they are GKs with a dark angel's model style. I've seen some excellent conversions of DA models to GK and they are both power armor armies. From a purely art standpoint, I say go for it, just like I would say go for Chaos GKs, Chaos SoBs, or what have you, purely from an art standpoint. Stuff like that looks awesome. From a fluff standpoint though? Please don't <_< Oh and I feel your pain on the boring paint scheme, my original plan was a blue/black/white scheme for my sallies successors and paint the horde of plastic marines in that style. I quickly learned I suck when painting NMM, so my love for GKs inspired me to start collecting them, haven't been disappointed since. Captain Hajime
I don't see why Gray knights can have succive Chaptere I would just expect them to be in the same line of work. In fact I plan to do with is I am having my Gray knights doen in copper. Oiad
Would guess that it is unfluffy. Being the milliant arm of one-third of the inquisition, and just the work they do in general means they are a highly secretive order. Its harder to keep secrets under wraps when you have more people knowing about them. And though the grey knights are space marines to an extend, they are not bound to the codex astrates at all. Being an Inquisition force means that they are probably the only set of space marines who could never be forcefully subjected to it - no wonder they are one of the largest chapters. So there are unlikely to splinter. As a personal note, I just think it would kill their uniqueness to have several sucessor chapters with exact same roles. But if you want to go ahead an paint them differently then nothing is going to stop you. Half the fun about the game is giving it your own interpretation. And when its on the table does it really matter? Just don't fool yourself into thinking its a by-the-book, highly-fluffy organisation. It's all for fun/what ifs?... ...if you just want to paint them DA colours then go for it! You could treat them as a GK team specifically assigned to guard your DA battalion and I would have a problem with it. If you just like the ideas of a psyker SM army, then the previous recommendations of playing Blood Ravens is a very good one. FallenLion
here's the thing already painted battle-force in DA colours How about this ... my HQ guard standard mkII vets with nemesis weapons - I think this is a good idea no? also GK helmets - is there a way of buying them on mass cost effectively - like not £6 per helmet or without tedious conversions that take time/green-stuff/skill Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/194641-grey-knight-sucessors/#findComment-2320227 Share on other sites
