Thunderwolf cav 'counts as'

I thought up an idea that would let me use the rules for Thunderwolf cav but would not be so goofy. I really hate them fluff-wise, I just think the idea is stupid as hell, but they are one of, if not the, best units in the game for the points. I was thinking of mounting on a dread base (that is the size Canus comes on, right?) a guy on a bike with a wolf running next to him. The biker would have all the equipment that I would buy for him so it would be WYSIWYG in that regard. I could even remove the twin-linked bolters to make it extra clear that it is not a regular biker.

What do you reckon?

The best "Counts as" I have seen so far is a guy who did a Wolf handler with two Wolves on chains leaping forward. There is a pic somewhere on this forum but I cant find it at the minute, I think its in the stickied thread at the top of the forum.

If the unit type is cavalry, my stance is that it should be an infantry model riding something with legs, whether it's a horse, wolf, juggernaut, wierd-alien dinosaur,or cybernetic-robot monstrosity running on four legs, you're good.

I'm not a big fan of using bikes to count as, nor I am I of handlers, for the following reasons:

1 - bikes are bikes. they follow the bike rules. players see bikes on the table and they assume certain things. When the codex first came out, before I put my own thunderwolf cavalry together, I used bikes-count as to try them out. My opponent got confused in certain instances even though I explained to him before hand what they are. It's understandable - when there's a lot going on the table people forget and the default to their gut reactions that a model is what it looks like.

2 - Fenrisian wolves being walked by space marines are... well, my gut reaction is that they're fenrisian wolves, but that's because I'm familiar with Space Wolves. For outside players, this is easier for opponents to understand as Thunerwolves then bikes. My other problem is my sensibilities usually go to places like "How can the marine run so fast? is the wolf pulling them?" It's not really a good reason, and I certainly wouldn't protest seeing handlers on the table like I might if they were bikes.

One of the best one that i have seen and that im currently working on is using Chaos knight horse and the leg of the riders and then stick the power armour on. sure the legs look a bit weird and there a good amount of scraping to get the choas symbols of nut its cheap. :D
