AngelPride
Hello everyone Ok so I have a thunderhawk. I now have all the parts to make 5 thunderwolves (a lord, canis, and 3 riders). Is throwing them in the thunderhawk and using them as a heavy counter unit for apoc a good or bad idea? My inital strategy was to have the hawk flying around blazing away to try and blast its points worth of holes in the enemy to start with. Then on turn 4 or 5 it lands within 12-14 inches of an enemy objective and disgorges "The Blender" unit which rolls in and crushes all to take the objective. The unit of grey hunters in tow then mop up and secure the objective while the Thunderhawk takes back off to the relative safety of the skies (assuming it survives being landed for a turn, which most of the time it doesn’t ;) ) The grey hunters then babysit the objective allowing the ThunderWolves to move on to continue the freight train of destruction As the Thunderwolves are cav the 5 of them take 15 spots up in the THawk, and then 10-12 grey hunters depending on if I add a wolfguard to the squad. Might also add a rune priest for some psychic defense for the entire strike force, and to use Tempests Wrath and/or Storm caller to limit what the enemy can do to retaliate in their 1 or 2 turns they might have to respond. Thoughts, ideas, mental counseling? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/195002-flying-thunderwolves/ Share on other sites
clanfield
thunder wolves are cavalry hence they get fleet so with a good d6 roll they can be deep into hth in round 2 and at the same points as a razor back why keep them out of combat for 4-5 turns ? just my idea Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/195002-flying-thunderwolves/#findComment-2320802 Share on other sites

Bulweih
When I got my Thunderhawk and those Wolves, I am going to do that same thing. I like the idea and it seems to be worth the points if not all goes wrong, like dice and stuff. Those two units are the best choice for the task, I'd love a report on how it worked out for you. And pics.... ;) I might add a priest on wolfmount for sprinkles off awesomeness :D , but enough about me. For mental counseling issues: just don't get ahead of yourself, or too proud if it works ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/195002-flying-thunderwolves/#findComment-2321216 Share on other sites
