Fellow wolf players I need help

I recently started playing 40K and I need some help on what to get and build to het me going in the game. I alrady bought a Wolfguard box and a Pack box from witch i built 5 bloodclaws and 5 grey hunters and a Dakka pred( AC, bolter sponsons) . (still painting them :D ) Now I need to get to the rest of my army. I was thinking of getting the batlleforce another pack box and a tactical box for the melta weapon. Now I have no idea what to get next or build from these boxes more bloodclaws or more greyhunters ?

I'd start with the following core force...

HQ: Rune Priest

Elite: Wolf Guard Pack (2 with Power Fists & Combimeltas, 1 with Terminator Armor & Cyclone Missile Launcher)

Troops: 2 x Grey Hunter Packs with 9 members - 1 each with Power Weapon, MotW, Wolf Banner, Plasma Pistol, Meltagun and 4 Bolters + Rhino

Heavy: Long Fangs w/ 5 missile launchers

first off i will say take some time to look through the codex and find what appeals to you most and work around that. but grey hunters are really sick, and most of your troops will probably be them unless you really like blood claws. determining how you what to run your force would be next: mech, foot slog, shooty, close combat only-ish? once you decide that start to fill in what you want. I try to fit in one long fang pack, because when well placed, people freak out about whether or not to kill them or the vindicator i just placed. scouts are also really handy, i have used them for the last 6 years and have had them in every game i have played.

This kind of topic is just like the question: "what colors should i paint my guys?" What ever you like, do it. I tend to be the weird guy who doesn't take rune priests. they don't fit my style. and i always think it is funny when i play some one and they say i will lose because i don't have a RP, Ragnar, or Arjac. and when i do come out on top, i say it just goes to show that "what every one does" doesn't mean it is the only thing people can do.

Dimes to dollars, scouts have been over the years one of the most useful places to spend points. They don't always live, but their effectiveness can be staggering. So much so I've had them take out 5x their points in a single match, potentially more.

when codex: deamons came out, mine score 2 greater deamons, a unit of the mounted deamonets, and 2 wounds on another big deamon guy. for a 120-ish point unit, that was big, even wiht .ucky rolls for me, and bad rolls for him.

Honestly, 20 grey hunters and 2 rhinos is the best foundation for any force.

Agreed, and a Rune Priest for Head Quarters unit.

Double agree. And a unit of long fangs. These guys are indispensable for me.

And dreads are great too for low points games.

Triple agree. In all of my lists that I've played seriously, they are invaluable; even more so when we had 'true grit.' Those days are long gone, though the current rules for GHs are pretty awesome, too.

I also like running a couple of squads of BCs. A lot of people have stopped using them, but I still think they're great as a spearheading shock unit, especially when mounted in a LR.

No matter what type of army you decide to run, though, be sure to build around a solid core.

Now...sit down, grab some meat and have an ale! Welcome to the Fang!
