Commander Sasha
When I first started 40K, I looked at both C:SM and C:WH, saw the bit about no Sororitas with allied marines, and settled on C:SM. Re-reading, recently, I understand it as: a parent witchhunter force with battle sisters can't add allied space marines, but if I have a parent marine force, there's no problem with allying a squad of sisters to it. Is this correct? Can I really add some girls to my boys? I'd be pleased if I can. If so, I plan to use my standard list, with 2xTac Rhino Fist squads, biker captain with bike squad, and Thunderfire, and am looking at a Canoness with a 5-Celestine retinue in an Immolator, for cooking hordes, and a small squad of Seraphim for deep strike vehicle popping. I also fancy a vindicare, buried in a high ruin on the far side from the Thunderfire. Is this a good use of the girls? My bikes usually have homers, is it acceptable to use the SM homer for guiding the Seraphim? WarriorFish
Sisters make great allies for a Marine force, I've done it quite a bit. They can add a lot more bolters and some extra melta/flamer to the table which can really work well with Marines. A Canoness can be useful but using normal SoB squads is probably better than Celestians. Seraphim are good, especially with their unique Hit and Run rule but now that AMs have come down to a reasonable price you'll probably be better off using them. That would also avoid the DSing question, as I'm not sure how that could be interpreted. It might be a contentious issue, though not as bad as the Vulkan one (kudos for not using him btw) - you'd best confirm with your opponent. For the record, I usually use mounted SoB and Dominion squads with my mech Marines as I like the cheaper bolters and ready access to melta and flamer. Of course the flamer Dom squad of doom with Divine Guidance is a pretty persuasive argument too... WAR
Unfortunanetly you will not be able to use the assassain as you did not take an Inqusitor. Warrior fish is spot on about the combos and DSing. And I second the kudos for not using Vulcan mic Cheesy! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/195125-girls-boys/#findComment-2322511 Share on other sites
Commander Sasha
Thanks guys; I play a fluffy army that doesn't use characters (tried it a few times, but Sasha got upset when I kept calling her Kor'sarro; she's her own woman!). I also don't use Psykers, for purely fluff reasons, so will have to think about whether I use Faith. Will I be ruining my chances if I don't? Sister Rosette Soulknyt
Faith is a essential part of the SoB force, i would recomend using where you can, its not cheesy at all so dont worry about someone calling you cheesy if you do use it. I play a pure SoB force against all armies and the amount of times i get called cheesy for using Faith, lets jut say id have a whole Immolator of Thrones for them. Anyway its a great idea to allie your army with SM, good to see a use for them, an di think your idea for what you want to use is spot on. Six Dominions with four Flamers, and a VSS with combi-flamer really do damage with Divine Guidance. Ohh the things ive roasted and pulled out marshmellows for..so many stories. Nothing beats eating marshmellows for the subtle irony of flaming your opponents army is so worth it. Chengar Qordath
I've learned to ignore 95% of all claims of cheese; I've seen just about every army list imaginable (including Pure GK footsloggers or an Ork list that consisted almost entirely of Gretchin) called game-breakingly cheesy; the only consistent rule seems to be that any list the person in question can't beat has a much higher likelihood of being declared cheesy, and any unit or ability that is generally effective gets the same treatment. For every case of genuine cheese, there are a dozen cases of people whining because they don't like to lose. Warhorse47
On the question of cheese, if you are playing a fun pick up game, maybe worry about it. Those are for fun with friends so play to have fun. If you are in an all out tourney, use everything the rules allow. I have played against Vulkan/flamer horde and it is tough, but that is part of the game, adapt. Marshal Arturas
Faith isn't psyker. Don't worry about that. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/195125-girls-boys/#findComment-2323603 Share on other sites
Commander Sasha
Thanks for the input! I wasn't so concerned about cheese accusations, more that for my own fluff, Sasha despises Psykers and psychic powers, but if Faith points are not psychic, but just intense morale boosting due to fervent belief, I guess I can settle with it. Think I can feel some bug barbecues in my near future! Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/195125-girls-boys/#findComment-2325172 Share on other sites
Judanas
Yeah, faith is nothing like psychic powers. They are faith, morale, skill and more than a little divine intervention. Stormshrug
Yeah, faith is nothing like psychic powers. They are faith, morale, skill and more than a little divine intervention. cough*Probably*cough It certainly isn't a Psychic power to anybody's "official" knowledge, anyway. Regarding the Vindicare Assassin: You don't really want to run one, anyway. Considering how awesome they are in the fluff, they're depressingly lackluster in gameplay terms. If you're absolutely dying to use one, I'd recommend having a squad of Space Marine Scout Snipers with Sgt. Telion as a "count-as" a Vindicare. The squad gets a lot more shots per turn, has better options, and only costs slightly more. Plus this leads to having to explain why a lone wolf like a Vindicare Assassin is stuck babysitting a bunch of Space Marine Initiates. HILARITY ENSUES! -Stormshrug Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/195125-girls-boys/#findComment-2328669 Share on other sites
