i do like, never been a fan of the eagle back pack though.

The freehand isn't too bad by the way, a lot better than any of my efforts

If i had to criticize, i'd say the highlights are a little thick...

Other than that awesome job :)

edit: scorch mark the melta barrel, always a good look

mech red ,devian mud wash ,then red gore ,blood red ,blazing orange but i agree with sudden diference between the dark and highlights this was done purposly as practice and i will be making two pots of 1:1 and 1:2 of red gore and blood red soon to soften the transition right now i am just working models up to just the devian wash for now and thanks for your comments so far keep it coming
I don't think the highlights are too thick, or "too soon". In fact, i like to do my models that way so that the lines stand out on the tabletop. If this was meant to be a GD mini, then you'd all be right, but if this army is getting played, then it's perfect.

The purple-orange effect comes from red gore then. I'd leave it out altogether. It's not necessary either. Mech red and blood red will do the trick for you.

Very good over all. Nice red, good highlighting, very good for table top. One thing though, the cape is missing something, the drops are nice but I think if you added some trim lines or a pattern (one of the new White Dwarves shows how to do this) and I think you could stamp DONE on this guy.
