Heavy bolters

Recommended Posts

I love heavy bolters, there are so many sick pieces of art work and book description of a astartes hefting around one of these beast.

But as far as models go, there is little variety.

Has anyone done anything to change up/ model/ customize a space marine with a heavy bolter?

I've chopped the middle piece from a cadian heavy bolter and then glued the other 2 pieces together, takes away about 0,5/1 cm.

And then I glued a plasma gun handle and butstock arm pair to it(cadian) I guess it works with SM arms aswell.

Oh nearly forgot, shortend the ammo chain aswell, so I could glue the ammo box strait to the gun.

box feed straight on the gun, thought of using storm bolter or assault cannon boxes.

You're giving me idea's!

What about making it like the space wolf assault cannon, complete with chain feed from the back(pack) that could be incorporated.

You chop of the rear handle and make him hold the top one only, with his right hand ofcourse. The waving something with his left hand.

Scouts Squads have a very good model carrying a heavy bolter with out the long metal belt feed ammo. I actually like that mini over the normal marine with a heavy bolter. You could modify it to fit a regular marine I'm sure of it.

Try replacing the belt feed with a drum. You can use IG grenade launcher drums, Auto cannon drums, or making your own. I think one of the witch hunters vehicles comes with drums on their heavy bolters. You can get bi-pods from scout sniper kits, and scopes from tactical squads.

ive always toyed with making rambo style heavy bolters with side fed link-belt ammo that the marine holds with his left arm while hip shooting with his right.

ive never gotten around to it yet due to hardly using heavy bolters since i play chaos and rather choose auto cannons
