Evilbob
After days of procrastination and days of painting, finally got my FW venerable dread finished with a base including one of the space marine casualties I got my Bjorn the Fell Handed done today. Don't plan on winning any contests, but I was rather proud of myself on this one! Wolf Guard Dan
Looks good. I like that he is coming to the rescue for a fallen brother. I love the banner. How did you get the yellow like that? Evilbob
For the banner I base coated it black, then brushed the pale flesh over that (Elf flesh I think?). The next layer was the darker flesh (bronzed flesh or dwarf flesh sounds right) and lightly bushed snakebite leather on all the raised runes and lines. Then just washed the whole banner 3 or 4 times with Davian Mud wash. I don't know how, but the end result is a nice leather that looks yellowed when it catches the light. Beef
Looks good, my only advice would be to give the plasma canon a very thinned down brown wsh on the golden front bit and perhaps some highlight on the grey armor Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/195217-my-bjorn/#findComment-2325046 Share on other sites
s.j.mccartney
I like it. Great to see Bjorn represented again! Great paintjob. How did you handle the banner? Did you glue it in place? Is it going to break? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/195217-my-bjorn/#findComment-2325181 Share on other sites
Evilbob
For the banner I drilled out the little divot where you're supposed to glue it in place and then used magnets. One on the base of the banner, one in the deeper divot. Helps me transport it without it taking up half a tray. Plus, I like to use it more than just as Bjorn since it's cool looking. So if I'm using Bjorn I attach the banner, if he's just a ven dread I don't attach the banner. I didn't highlight the armor as such, but I did lightly drybrush bolt gun metal on all the hard edges so it looks like it's wearing through the paint. Just don't think that comes across well in a small picture. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/195217-my-bjorn/#findComment-2325676 Share on other sites
