Wolves vs TWC, Points Vs Value

Ok so im going to run either Canis or a custom mounted wolf lord.

My question is what is better to run him with

TWC or wolves.....

I like TWC and their stat line, but for 30 points less than the cost of 3 TWC i can run a full 15 wolves.the wolves have

alot more wounds and more attacks and higher intitave with saga of the wolfkin.

I guess im after ideas and opinions as to which way to go.

TWC or wolves...... Which do you think is better value for the points.....

I use both a unit of three TWC and 15 wolves.

I find the TWC last pretty well with a good cover save, true T5, a 3+, and especially if there is a few other scary and fast moving units. In combat when they are supported by a lord, they will smash stuff good.

The wolves tend to be reduced quickly by small arms fire and when you take that leadership test they run too often (even with saga of the wolf born and being close to the TWC; shouldn't be a problem if you put your lord in the unit). However, if even only a few get into combat(s) they will pin that unit(s) so that the rest of my army can move and assault unhindered.

So they both perform differently for me, but I'd say I prefer the TWC. Maybe because they're space marines riding giant wolves and wasting the bad guys B)

I think they are quite different from each other in purpose. The TWC are "killers", to use a killhammer term, and their mission is to get in, and kill stuff. The fen wolves on the other hand are there to harass, give coversaves and act as tarpits. They dont have much in terms of stayingpower, except for numbers, but the impact of their charge might very well cripple dedicated shooting squads and tie down things that dont have enough attacks to kille them all right away(try attacking a dread while having TWC close by. with 2A á turn the dread is locked down for quite a few turns.
