Espada Azul
Some of the folk here might remember that Space Marine skimmer conversion I did a year or so ago, and I've decided to add another model I can shamelessly use for Apocalypse games. I worked on this in parallel with my LPC Vow, with the leftover plasticard I had, and spare parts. I plan to use this as an allied Stormraven, so the construction is a wee bit different from the previous Hellkite, in that there will be a place to hang a Dreadnought in the rear, between the wings and underneath the (as yet) unconstructed main engine housing. All in all a good start, I think. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/195800-the-aquila-project-mk-ii-hellkite-dos/ Share on other sites

Espada Azul
Didn't post side or top profile pictures because, well, there's this BIG EMPTY SPACE where the rear engine housing should be. It's not going to be filled anytime soon, I think. Espada Azul
UPDATE 04/08/2010: While this is a long-term project of mine, it doesn't mean I'm not actually doing anything on it. I recently finished the engine housing on it, and while it seems small, one needs to remember the two other engines I attached under each wing. I used Devilfish engines, because I wanted to mostly preserve the skimmer-ish aesthetic. Besides, everyone else is using the turbines of the Valkyrie kit, so might as well be different eh? It easily has more mass now than a Land Raider, and I haven't even started on the weapons! This one will eventually get a dorsal-mounted twin-linked Lascannon, Hurricane Bolter sponsons, as well as missiles under each wing. The grunt-work with the plasticard and modeling putty is still fairly obvious at this point, but it won't be too noticeable once I hit it with the silver primer, ahaha. And that's it for now. f74
I like where your going with this... Had the same idea about scratch building the front from a rhino but found it too small, so i went with this. http://www.dakkadakka.com/s/i/at/at2/2010/4/8/e989fffb4c1445a8d414ac8c130a8b5a_5626.jpg Great model by the way! Espada Azul
A slight update on an old project... Actually I finished this a LONG time ago, though I never got around to taking a picture of it. Well, no more! Here are the pictures, as well as a comparison with the previous conversion I made. And the comparison with the new plastic Venerable dread, my old Hellkite, and the new conversion: And there you have it. Done, and done.
