Rolfi
If my entire army will deploy via drop pods will I have to have any actual units on the board before the first turn? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/195943-drop-pod-assault/ Share on other sites
Koremu
You never have to deploy any actual units at all before the first turn in regular missions. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/195943-drop-pod-assault/#findComment-2334059 Share on other sites
Kephri
If your entire army is using drop pods, you will not have anything set up on the board. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/195943-drop-pod-assault/#findComment-2334244 Share on other sites
bystrom
Even if you don't have any drop pods, you can choose for units to be held in reserve (standard missions at least), which means you can if you wish put your whole army in reserve. sp4rky
If your entire army deploys by Drop Pod then nothing will be there at turn 0, half the pods (rounding up so if you have 5 pods, 3 will come down) in turn 1, and the rest rolled for as normal reserves. Arikel
You can if you wish, deploy units as normal and drop empty pods instead, If that would work better for you , but as mentioned above you are not required too unless mission rules would require you to have something on the board before the first turn starts. I’m new to 40K and still working on battle tactics and metagame mechanics. Why would someone put their whole army in reserve? Would that not simply give the opponent a chance to claim any objectives on the table?
