Artscale Marines - NOW, a terminator! (c/as Logan Grimnar)

My esteemed peers, brothers and sisters of the Bolterandchainsword, I humbly beg your thoughts.

As the name suggests I to have been bit by the "truescale" BUG. Though I prefer the term artscale...I mean who is to say what the truescale of a Space Marine is. And please, lets not let this descend into a flame war on that subject...

Now, I'll be the first to admit that this first one is a tad..ok a lot too big for a rank and file marine, however this was my first attempt and is more a chance for me to get my eye in, so to speak. But rather than waste him and for the sentimental please of my first scaled up brute making it to the table top, I'll be using it as my count-as Logan Grimnar for my Steel Raptors Chapter (fluff being finished in the DIY chapter section, as my entry into the Iron Gauntlet Challenge)

So, onto the model...

It is very early stages yet, but I wanted to experiment with a different take on the way people scale up their marines. I've only touched on the GSing which will be needed as I'm still without greenstuff and just have very grainy milliput.

The Steel Raptors have a real thing for bionics, so I'm considering keeping this leg un-armoured, and bulking it out with plenty of gubbins and wires to look robotic.

Against a marine and the storm trooper...he is really very large.

And a few close ups...

Your thoughts are as always gratefully appreciated.

I mean who is to say what the truescale of a Space Marine is.

I agree whole-heartedly with your sentiments on that one.

The size looks okay from the angle of that photo. How tall is the model to the shoulder?

Until a bit more work is done he looks a bit confusing so far, I don't quite know what to make of the torso at all, are you going to carve down the chest or are you beefing it up more to make a terminator? The thigh that you've built up looks too thick, it's offsetting the groin to the left, but other than that, the armour on the shin and the ribbing look promising.

Since you're using a lot of plasticard so far I would recommend making your own feet, the crazy angles Citadel use often make Marines look bandy-legged when they're altered and the right foot on this chap doesn't look quite right.

Forgeman: Thank you for your reply! I think people get slightly het up over the issue of size (coughs) and those arguments just plain don't benefit the hobby. Too much like censorship from some corners :)

As to the model, I wasn't considering making him in full terminator armour, but since you mentioned it...well I just had to give it a go! Obviously this is mainly just bulk work and most of the details still need to be added in.

So, this is to be my count's as Logan Grimnar, leader of the 11th Company (The Death Walkers) of the Steel Raptors Chapter (more fluff up in the DiY CHapter forum soon!)

The Shield represents Logan's belt of Russ (Night Ward) and the sword (which I'm not sure, but might be too large...) represents the Axe Morkai (Nights Bane).

Your C&C is very much needed, so please drop a comment!
