There were 4 objectives. 2 were on my side, 1 in the middle, 1 on his side.

He started the game holding the middle one with his 10 man Tac squad.

I planted my plague squad on an objective on my side and held them there the whole game. Pu my Oblits near my 2nd objectives with my Land Raider (filled with Khârn and Berzerkers nearby). My Defiler marched up behind the Land Raider and my Prince was moving around with them. I sent one squad of CSMs right up the middle to the center terrain where his Tac squad was bunkering while my other CSMs advanced along the left flank of the field to counter some incoming bikes.

Land Raider headed straight for the Tac Squad while he advanced his Raider and one of the Dreads towards it to give his Tacs some support. He kept his Pred, AssCan Dread, the other Tac squad (which was hanging out in cover on his objective), scouts, and Beamer guy hanging in the back literally taking potshots at my army.

He popped my Raider near the center terrain so Khârn and the Berzerkers jumped and charged at the squad. At the same time my center CSMs had disembarked and opened up on that tac squad, with him sustaining multiple casualties.

Over to the left, my other CSM squad had destroyed 1 biker squad with massed fire power and the meltaguns, supported by long range fire from my Plague marines. By now Khârn and his group charged in and slaughtered his marines taking only 1 or 2 wounds.

Next turn though his Beamer guy layed down a pie plate on my Zerks and everything nearby shot at em as well, cutting them down quite a bit.

My prince entered the same terrain this turn and he tried to booby trap him but failed. His Raider drove up with the Termies and assaulted Khârn next and killed the last of my Zerks but still Khârn held out, taking down 3 of them before he fell. My marines that were close by sacrificed themselves then by melting the Raider but in turn getting assaulted by the remaining Terminators. They killed one buy got wiped out shortly thereafter.

About the same time he had outlanked me with his other Bike squad and my Defiler simply turned around, flamed and then charged them, only taking out one before they started falling back. On the way back to their side of the field the got downsized further by my Plague marines and finished finally by one of my CSM squads.

He DS'd his Assault Marines now near one of my back objectives and used some special rule to assault my OBlits. They lived long enough for my Prince and Defiler to come join the fight and after a few rounds they died, killing my Oblits, Defiler and severely wounding the Daemon Prince. I then hid him in cover near the objective as it was turn 5.

At the last minute he ran his Scouts up to the center objective to make it a draw. I had too few troops left to hold that objective.

Twas great fun though

Sounds like you had a really good battle there. Your report gives the impression you had your opponent on the ropes for most of the fight and it was only because he was smart with his Scouts.

So in your opinion, what performed well and what didn't?

Khârn did a pretty good job with the zerks, my CSMs did well but I much rather wished they'd been plague marines so they would have survives and held on longer,

Prince was at a lack of targets for a while and i need to invest in a 2nd one as I know my army would have much more of a punch.

I was very disappointed in my Raider but I suppose that was its purpose to be targeted so everything else lived long enough.

I also believe my defiler should have been 2 oblits.

Otherwise I think I did pretty well.

Next turn though his Beamer guy layed down a pie plate on my Zerks and everything nearby shot at em as well, cutting them down quite a bit.

Conversion Beamers don't shoot pie plates, they are only heavy one, blasts. So you may want to talk to your friend about that.
