Twin Ultramarine Dreads...about 95% done.

Hey all.

I worked my backside off over the last week to finish this pair of Dreads for a tournament. I only fielded one, but I wanted them both done at the same time.

The arms on both are magnetized, so I can field them (and their four compatriots who I'll be working on soon) in various armament configurations.

Not sure if you can see the writing on the nameplates, but I named them Castor and Pollux. Castor's nameplate is a tad messy.

What I need advice on is how I should spice these guys up. I plan to add Ultramarine freehand to every left-hand weapon, to mimic the insignia of basic troopers. What else should I add in white to these Dreads, though? I want something on one or both of the leg plates, and was thinking of adding some litanies or other icons to the large flat plates in the front, and maybe the top. Any suggestions?

Also, does the gold sarcophagus work? It was based in gold, washed heavily in a red-brown, and then retouched with the gold. Then I added small highlights with a lighter gold. But does it have enough depth? Is that just too much gold in one spot? The reason I did these like this is because if you look closely at the model, the gold parts all seem to be one "section", which is the removable sarcophagus. The clamps at the bottom and the top seem to lock this section in place. I figured ancient gold sarcophagi would look cool, as opposed to the over-colored version GW does for it's stock models.

Feedback and suggestions appreciated very much.

I'd do a bit to the Sarcophagi my self. I'd have the scrolls as bleached bone for one, as well as the skulls on each, and then possible paint the wings white, but thats my own opinion. The reason for this as it makes it more of a focus point in my opinion, even if they do look over coloured.

I'd also see about painting the UltraMarine U on the leg plates - not both leg plates, but one on each Dread (idealy the same leg tho), Other than that, i cant think of any suggestions.

Thanks for the ideas.

I think I'll actually go with silver for the skulls and wings. I paint all skulls in my army silver, so I think the consistency will be nice, while still allowing a color to break up all that gold.

I'm also goign to go over all the ribbed hoses in red and/or black, so they break up the monotony of the silver on the legs.
