Prot
Since day one I've played my WolfGuard with some combi-melta's but I run into a few problems.... How are you guys doing this? Are you modeling the gun on the hands? Or just saying 'this guy has a combi-melta'? I thought of putting made up combimeltas somewhere on the model to show it exists. I can't find the gun anywhere.... making them could be 'ok' I suppose. In some cases I wanted the Frost Axe guys to carry them but they physically can't unless you start hacking the arms up. Any advice? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/196386-how-are-you-guys-handling-combi-meltas/ Share on other sites
Hfran Morkai
At the minute the only Combi-Meltas I have are on Terminators, which are easy to convert up from their Storm Bolters. Tell a lie, I have one WG with C-M However if I were to take more of them on WG in Power Armour I would model them on, I reckon they might have developed magnetic "clamps" for the armour, allowing Marines to attach their Bolters to their legs when using say Bolt Pistol and close combat weapon (my Grey Hunters will wield all three!) With regards to making PA Combi-Meltas I cut the barrel and rail off the front of a Bolter, stick a Meltagun barrel high up and a Bolt Pistol barrel underneath, cheap and cheerful (if you have access to Meltaguns) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/196386-how-are-you-guys-handling-combi-meltas/#findComment-2339643 Share on other sites
DapperDave
I just make them myself out of a bolter and plastic melta. I'll take some photos tonight so you can see them (easier than describing them). There's also a combi-melta included in the SM commander box - but even just buying that bit is fairly expensive. Grey Mage
I actually bought a bunch of the SM Commander box when it first came out for the combi-weapons, close combat weapons, and some extra legs . Great investement... though not for just one bit. On TDA though I just cut one barrell of the stormbolter and afix a melta-barrel in its place. For combi-flamers I take an old hand flamer, and put that in one hand while they true-grit a bolter in their other. I dont own any TDA with C-Fs though. Chodjinn
I model them on my TDA WG using a storm bolter with the outer bolter barrel cut off, part-shaved bolter section, and a shaved down meltagun. Also works for combi-plasmas using a cut down plasma pistol, and looks good as well, not too bulky. SJumppanen
I made my combi meltas by using those metal meltaguns GW sells in blisters of 5. Then i just filed it a bit and glued a half of a bolter or bolt pistol on top of it. Mar Bloodaxe
I use plastic tubing, then rifle the barrel: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v211/gragdushspleenrippa/models/Projects/vikinghead.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v211/gragdushspleenrippa/models/Projects/melta3.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/196386-how-are-you-guys-handling-combi-meltas/#findComment-2339711 Share on other sites
Lord Ragnarok
ever since last dex I've made many conversions. Lately, due to no time, I've just chopped off the bolter barrel and added the splasma/flamer/melta barrel. I'll post pics tonight. jjfelber
I just tell my opponent the bolter is a combi-melta. If you place a melta tip on a bolter it looks like the marine should be able to use either all the time. This is the far future, you are going to tell me the Space Marines don't have special Ammo. One bullet in the Gun is a Melta Round. The equivalent to a really really big modern day incendiary round. If you like fluff, why not use it? TheLastHuzzah
I've done a couple in the last month: The easy way is to hack off the plastic melta barrel, and shave the "T" looking melta side piece. Once this is done cut the bottom "nub" and bolter barrel off and re-glue the bolter barrel to where the nub was. The hard way, I will post later because I forget exactly what I did with it... -Huzzah Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/196386-how-are-you-guys-handling-combi-meltas/#findComment-2339875 Share on other sites
Baragash
I cheated and top mounted boltguns on the meltas from the bitz pack http://40kforums.com/imageupload/images/img4b927d0b0dea1.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/196386-how-are-you-guys-handling-combi-meltas/#findComment-2339892 Share on other sites
CarlSkaven
I'll give you pictures tonight of what I did! I cut the top part of a melta and glued it to the top of the bolter . exept for the very old models I have... those I used the metal smoke luncher from the old chaplain bike and cut the little barrels and used them as the Melta barrel on their guns Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/196386-how-are-you-guys-handling-combi-meltas/#findComment-2339906 Share on other sites
Aeddon
http://space-wolves-grey.blogspot.com/2009...bi-weapons.html has a good one. I did pretty much the same with the Storm Bolter that comes with the SW box set. I've got a couple I also converted from bolters too.
