tagsta
Little off topic but I made a birthday coupon for my buddy Clemens, long-time Flesh Tearers player. It says: "Captain Clementine! Ready your strike force to be transferred to the Alex System in the Alster Nebula on short notice. Be cautious, you might encounter brunch. FOR THE EMPEROR!" http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y254/ancientgod/1ffe6a6f.jpg Alex is our usual brunching place and it overlooks the Alster, a lake around which Hamburg was built. The FT logo was cut out of white and red cardboard. So yeah, we're nerdy. really nice present! yet nerdy =) hope he likes it

ancient god
Yeah, suffice it to say that he does not approve of that nickname. :) Quick update before I'm off to bed. Sat down and painted the Librarian tonight, primer to varnish! Really happy with how fast this went. Dodgy snapshot below, will take clearer pictures tomorrow. http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y254/ancientgod/Blood%20Angels/IMG_0492.jpg Some personal heraldy on the kneecap and Dante's old metal backpack for some added BA detail. Will use him in the game tomorrow!

SamaNagol
That's an incredibly clean and crisp model. That is pretty much what everyone should aspire to for a tabletop miniature.

ancient god
Kobra, yeah, I like to paint long shifts but this was a little extreme as I didn't take any breaks in order to get done in time. Des, good old Iyanden Darksun again. Painted on till good coverage was achieved, then shaded with pinpoint washes using Scorched Brown mix with the Darksun. Highlighted with VMC Ice Yellow plus Darksun mixes. About 3 layers of shading and highlighting each but it's short work once the basecoat is on. SamaNagol, noodlenerd, Skanwy, that's high praise, thank you guys very much! :) Off to the GW store in 10 minutes and then it's the Tyranids or me in less than an hour! HQ Librarian w/ JP - Blood Boil, Rage thingy ELITES SP w/ JP Furioso, Blood Fist w/ SB, Frag Cannon TROOPS Tac Squad (10), PF, Flamer, HB LRR Transport, MM Assault Squad (5), PF, Melta FAST ATTACK Baal Pred, TLAC, 2x HB 1050 points as I'm kinda inflexible unit-wise ATM. :P Wish me luck! ancient god
your a little light on troops m8, wish you the best of luck! :( Definitely, they mopped the floor with my marines. Turn one, 2 Zoantrophes came onto the board and fried the LRR (1 shot hit) and the shock wave took out 3 marines. After that, things went pearshaped fast. :P Got to paint more troops, fast. The Baal and the Furioso took out a mob of 14 gaunts in one turn of shooting, that was nice. But otherwise, meh... Anyway, here we go with some better pictures of the librarian. http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y254/ancientgod/Blood%20Angels/IMG_0499.jpg http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y254/ancientgod/Blood%20Angels/IMG_0503.jpg http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y254/ancientgod/Blood%20Angels/IMG_0505.jpg http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y254/ancientgod/Blood%20Angels/IMG_0506.jpg http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y254/ancientgod/Blood%20Angels/IMG_0508.jpg And a family photo of the army I brought today. http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y254/ancientgod/Blood%20Angels/IMG_0521.jpg Baal was the last man standing, second to last was the Furioso who went down to Zoantrophes, Alphas w/ warriors and lots of other gribblies. tagsta
absolutely great army shot! i have a jump pack librarian on my workbench to lead my small battleforce...for the longest time I wanted to place his heraldry on the shoulderpad but after seeing the way you solved things I will attempt a similar little heraldry thing on his kneepad.. how is the game effectiveness of the jump pack libby and what did you equip him with? Vel'Cona
Yes very nice army shot, I love your Libby AG! Sorry to hear your game didn't go that well, but 'Nids are a hard opponent to face with heavy armor, as 'Thropes are simply idiotically good at popping tanks. I definitely avoid LR in low point games for that exact reason, but hey it got you a whole painted army on the table and I can't find fault with that! Better luck on the next one! :)
Demoulius
shame about the loss ancient. i face opponents with light troop choices all the time, they are a walk in the park to take out unfortunatly :( unless they are back up by a huge elite force obviously, if you contest all your opponents objectives or likewise kill his troops youve got a draw at least ;) 1000 pts games are ALWAYS hard with any army tbh. you can only take a strong base of troops or a (somewhat) strong elite force but you cant take a combination sadly :( the LR getting shot first turn defenitly was a slap to the face, was he setup behind cover or in the open? i always try to deploy my vehicles that im most likely getting a cover save the first turn (irrelevant of whos going first) anyway im sure you know all of this already :) just voicing my thoughts here. what unit is next ojn the assembly line? :)
ancient god
Thanks for the encouragement guys! Filed that one under "homecoming gift for staying away from 40K for so long". :geek: Tagsta, couldn't say how well he worked as my game came apart from turn one on. Used him with Unleash Rage and Blood Boil, both of which I never got to use. The assault squad never got to charge either, got picked apart by a plethora of shooty nids and a Morgon. Only the Baal and the Dread got to do their thing for a turn, the rest just went down in flames. What I want to try next game: More deployment methods, ie possibly a Dread pod, definitely DS some jumpers. And a full assault squad with HQ and SHP if I can manage. Vel'cona, Dem, I hear you on the troops choices. Definitely need more. And I appreciate any and all advice you guys here have for me, I've always been more of a painter than a gamer. Would still like to win a game some day. ;) Next up in the painting line... Well, got another SHP to do but I'll let him wait a couple of weeks. 5 more assault marines, which I want to paint ASAP but I'm still slightly bored by the first five. A captain in SG armour, maybe he's up next. And I still have to put the finishing touches onto both LRs. Kind of undecided tonight, we'll see what the weekend brings. :) Got a commission pending too. Demoulius
hmm another small tip i might have is to put something in reserves. if your deployment zone looks a LITTLE to full it probably is and holding units in reserve can work wonders in those cases. in fact i believe you can keep your entire army in reserve if you want i did this yesterday in a dawn of war mission with dawn of war deployment, opponent went first, i held back and dident bother with siezing initiative, he wasted his first turn and i could adjust my gameplan accordinly  small things like that can really give a player an advantage, while not beeing gamebreaking. also if your going to play more points try deepstriking the raider near a unit with a beacon :ermm: should specialy work well with the redeemer, landing S6 AP3 flamers where you want them can ruin anyones day :)
Beef
I love the crisp red paint and the flawlessness, how do you correct mistakes whilst painting, do you paint red over the basecoat off sprayed red?

I, myself never take LRs into games smaller than 1500pts for example... definitely try to paint up another tac squad/assault squad and things will change for the next game, I am sure! keep up the good work and also good luck gaming wise! ancient god
Got in a whole load of new stuff today! Lots and lots of new toys to work on. A drop pod, a vindi and a whirlie, couple of different vet boxes and 2x assault squads. Got started on the pod right away, building done and half way through the painting at this time. Might finish it tomorrow if I get time to paint. :) That should sort out some of my mobility issues. Built it without the harnesses to use it with my dreads. After the pod, it's assault marines again I guess.
