Sistaz of Battle

Ummm.... Please be careful here, BrotherMoses. This is skirting very close to offensive ... and I'll be watching replies to this topic VERY closely. My finger's on the melta trigger. You have been warned.

I... don't understand? Why?

Anyway, BEING A BROWN MAN, I enjoy seeing a mix of ethnicities on the tabletop. Also, as the Sisters are meant to be war orphans from all over the place, I see no reason why their skin needs to be uniform. As a result, each of my squads basically ends up looking like the multi-culture club. Various skin shades from caucasian, middle eastern to african. My cannonness is technically black but I havne't done her shading well so I'd prefer not to post pictures. I'm going to lighter her skin tone using graveyard earth mixed with a small quantity of sunburst to try and get her more middle eastern I think.

"Sistaz" of Battle?

"Afro" Hereticus?

Seriously?

I found that inappropriate. I'm all in favor of

each of my squads basically ends up looking like the multi-culture club

But I'd like to avoid stereotyping, thank you very much.

I do apologize if I have offended anyone and that I'm making you sweat number6. If this degenerates I would appreciate you purging it with fire.

I was mostly wondering because I've seen threads like this on guard regiments before and it kind of made me think.

One of my best painted models actually is one of my IST sergeants painted with an african descent skin tone. I simply used Scorched Brown, that apparently was just watered down enough to not go on in a uniform coat. There's just enough of a slightly chestnut sort of red tone to the paint that when it dried after the coat, had a wonderful varied color areas on the raised parts of the models head. I shall endeavor to take a picture tonight when I get home after work and post a link so you can see what I mean. I recommend this brown for other people as well. I too, have the melting pot of Sisters effect going on in my army, and I'm quite fond of it. I've debated periodically painting them all Irish or something, but I always end up just leaving it alone as I think it adds a lot of character to the force.

Here's the IST Sergeant in question (Sergeant Franklin Figaro of Squad 609):

From a modeling standpoint I intend to do a little work on this figure. I need to add a hilt to the empty knife scabbard (dunno why GW modeled it that way), add an auspex to his belt in the rear, and probably change the gun from Dark Angels Green to Chaos Black (originally I had color coded weapons red = bolter type, green = las type, black = special/other, now I'm thinking of making them all black). Hopefully you can see the interesting shading that Scorched Brown did slightly watered down on the figure itself. That's my recommendation anyway for the skin tone.

yes I have
