Special weapons keep their rules twc just lose their rending rule when they pick up a special weapon.

Which is one reason I also see TWC/TWM as being silly. Mostly because Rending is a Special Rule they have, I understand the mount give it to them (as per the TWM entry in the codex). But I personally feel that if they wanted it to be 100% clear they should of thought for two seconds and have given them a TWM as war gear to begin with. Just one of those little things that bothers me.....

not really. at least hes better than loki somewhat

well nvm. many of our special characters are a. overpriced, b. useless, or c. very situational.

Logan decent, his main praise is wolf guard troops. unfortunately his best use seems to go towards long fang baby sitting.

Ragnar: a beast in close combat but with out Eternal Warrior for 240 points thats just painful.

Canis: screams suicide unit without the Invulnerable save of any sort. say it with me, "Suicide units bad"

Loki and Arjac painfully expensive sergeants. Lukas wow leadership 8 period watch us run. Useless rule and useless gimmick that has a 50% chance of working. knowing my dice 90% chance of failing. Arjac fun idea but way too expensive for what he does.

Njal: highly expensive glass hammer that must go first to actually be useful meaning we need Bjorn. great psyker denial, decent powers, but once again no invulnerable unless you want to pay 20+ extra and no eternal warrior for that price either.

Bjorn: is useful pretty much for Alpha Strikes alone. If he dies he holds up your advance as you need to keep someone close by to keep him safe. I like him though.

lets just be thankful all our hqs can be customized to whatever we want.

I have a question... If our Thunderwolf Units were to keep their Rending special rule with special weapons... would that greatly impact the game at all? I don't see it at all being overpowered. What is the opinion on this?

I understand that it is redundant to talk about it, but I was curious if others felt the same way.

being str 5 they have a chance at penetrating most tanks in the game (exceptions being rear av 12 and all around av 14) give them a frost weapon this exceeds greatly making it happen on a 4+ instead of 5+ melta bombs help as well. Powerfist and Thunderhammers being str 10 auto penetrate against the above said most tanks.

mind you rending seems to lose its value when you get that special weapon so theres no real reason to keep it. its probably designed so that if your wolves didnt take the special weapon you have at least a better chance of penetrating a vehicle or something or other.

agreed, the only thing i would really add is that i know every one wants the "big shiny toys" in every unit but i feel they could of kept it for most of the weapons and made the exception for the PF or TH (fluff wise as they strike with them at I1), and i do understand that it would of been a little more specific and would of taken a little thought to out line it in such a way. so basically i would say no it doesn't effect most of the upgrade weapons at all really. i know with how my dice like me i might get 1 rend with them in 2 or 3 games.
