Can you individually target a single person within a unit? For instance can you target the (Aspiring Champion) of your Opponents unit?

In 99% of cases no you cannot target a single model within a unit. The only time this is not the case is when there is a assault phase involving a unit with an independent character. IC's are always treated separately in close combat. So if you have a power fist guy in your unit you want to get him into base-to-base with the IC so that his attacks go toward it. Although it does not work the other way. An IC attached to a unit cannot single out a model unless it is another IC attached to the enemy unit. So long story short, unless its an IC attached to a unit it is not possible to attack a single model within a unit.

In 99% of cases no you cannot target a single model within a unit.

Gift of Chaos falls under the other 1%, since the power's description specifically says the user gets to pick a single model to use the power against (even if the model is in close combat at the time).

 

Gift is a really nasty power when it works; not allowing a save or even Eternal Warrior protection if the model fails its toughness test can allow it to do some serious damage.

Yes, with gift of chaos you can.

The power specifically says "pick an enemy model"

 

very powerfull to use but not so easy since it can be used only in the movement phase BEFORE moving, so you already have to be within 6'' from your target. The nasty thing is that it works even in CC!

Generally you target units.

Some special rules and characters allow you to target models, ie Vindicare Assassin, JotWW, gift of Chaos, Sgt. Telion and some others.

You need the ability to target models.
