The mighty mechanicus !

Recommended Posts

Okay so a bit long update, I've been working on some buildings and the reaver. Enjoy the pictures.

None of the buildings are complete yet, they still need some detailing and some shattered glass.

I really don't want to be the only nay-sayer here, but as I understand it the Knights are considerably shorter than the Warhounds. Can you post a picture of the Knight next to your FW Warhound so we can get a size comparison?

But that aside, your models really do look spectacular. Blessings to the Omnissiah.

Warhounds are definitely smaller than Reavers.

Thanks all for the responds :)

The size of the knight is based on the statement from forge worlds Will Hayes in an interview with Bigdaddy, one of the leading guys in the knight model production. And he states that the knights would be around 18-20 cm tall and mine is 20 without the base ;) The warhound is around 25 and the reaver 40-41, so they should fit the bill nicely. After the forgeworld reboot of the titans I think they changed the scale on them a lot to fit better with the miniatures in the 28mm range, as epic is not actually scale accurate (Only inquisitor is scale accurate, of all GW's miniature ranges) And if you look at the old officially GW licensed armourcast warhounds and reavers you'd notice that they are considerably smaller than the contemporary Forge World equals, in fact the armourcast reaver is about the same size as a FW warhound :)

But anyhow, I'm glad you still like them and the above should be seen as an explanation to my choice in scale and not as me correcting you ;)

Now I'm here, how about a few updated pictures, still not done yet but had the opportunity to play with my brothers camera.

Thanks mate :)

I started the reaver in feburary 2010, so about a year, but have also done a lot of other stuff along this project, like painting the knight, building most of my warlord, a load of buildings and some other stuff.

Here's an update of what have been going on at the forges for the last while.

The mechanicus force will be escorted by some close friends on their top secret mission, the Iron Hands. So here's my small IH escort (That might grow bigger at some point, who knows :D ) These are all WIP's and the rhino has only got one layer of white on the hatch symbols and some interior paint so far.

Cool to see someone else give the old Chaos Dread a chance at new life...I love what you did with him, absolutely gnarly. I ditched the old Plasma Cannon myself for my conversion, and went with the plastic arms, but you actually made the ol' weapon look pretty smooth. Congrats, brother! Keep up the great work!

You, my good sir, put Forge Worlds biggest titan to shame with that there monstrosity!!

If you havent, I suggest you read Helsreach... The Oberon would be a great model to see made...

I mean, drop pod doors for toes... Tanks for legs... I cant wait to see the finished model.

How much time, effort and money would be put into something like that...?

No I haven't read that, I'll consider it though :)

The reaver wasn't that expensive, and the warlord is around 150 £/ 248 us$ so far, but will probably get more expensive along the way :D

I finished the dread and undercoated it.

Some better pics will be up at a later point as these where taken in a rush.

I have been working a bit on the details for the reaver, these are still mostly unattached and sits with tag so far, so if you have any suggestions for different locations they could sit feel free to comment.

So I've been doing a lot of work on the warlord, it has received a lot of new "skin" in the form of plasticard for smoother and easy to detail surfaces. The picture of the rectangle is a top-view shot of the engine, showing the compartment where the tech priest will be residing (he is currently on his way in the mail from FW). The engineroom will have a lot of detail but I'll get to that later in constuction.

The head is nearing it's final shape and detailing of the interior will soon begin, but for now you'll have to do with the pics of the head tscked to the torso.

Here's a comparison shot of the warlord and the reaver, it's starting to look like something now.

I also got my hands on this, the now OOP forge world opus machina.

I really like your Reaver. It looks like an Emperor honest, man made battle engine. I'm off to get me a butt load of plasticard, etc...

Good luck with that, I wish you all the Omnissiah's blessings

I have almost completed the leg section of this massive beast of a model. I opted for a sponged effect for heavy wear and tear, and decided to make the bottom of the legs look like it just moved through a building and the dust from the crumbling ruins are gathering on the lowest part of the titan.
