Spent some time on all the robes specifically. I have never really had to do these before so was something a little new for me. I went for a browny cream type colour so it didn't really clash with the red. I still have to do the final highlights on them but I'l save that for when the models are stuck together.

I have also hhighlighted all the gold parts, I'm not sure it comes out great on the pics since the metals seem to be a little washed out by my phone cam.

Small update I thought was worthy of note...I had a good go at some power effect weapons on these veterans. There are only 2, and a lightning claw in the box so took a morning to try it. I followed a WD guide from a few issues ago and I'm fairly happy with it. I have tried before with miserable results a while ago and since never tried again, but I'll put this into more practice:

Well done on the power weapons. The "power" effect is quite subtle. I am a fan of subtlety. Is the technique such that you make x's on the sword and then build up from there? In any case I think they look good. I hope I finish mine before you finish yours! Good work Iron Kobra.

Thanks muchly Seva, not that I think you'd need to ask ;) Its just the GW method, exactly as you say build up the lines. Start with a black blade (well nearly black, I added a touch of regal blue and hawk terquoise to tint the black slightly). Then nake the lines with regal blue, trying to concentrate them closer to the gem piece on the blade. Paint inside these lines with regal & turquoise 50/50 mix. Same again pure turquoise, same again 50/50 turquoise and white, and then pick the areas that cross each other and touch them with pure white ^_^

Don't worry man, I'm like the worlds slowest painter, I'm sure you'll be having your vets up before me! Last thing I'm going to entice is a race because I'll never cross the finish line haha

Cheers all!

I'm in the process of putting a dedcated work space together too so I can get my airbrush compressor and lamp etc all set and ready to rock whenever I please so I should be able to knock models out more quickly.

I'll hopefully when I finish these I'll be able to look up how to get better pics too to really get them looking snazzy. Still just going from my phone cam which is kinda hit and miss :D
