Mar Bloodaxe
Yea, but he's putting a Bolter on one of them.... I mean that's one less attack right? How often do you roll a one? I don't know, seems like a cool and fluffy tradeoff to me.... Am I missing something else? I armed my TWC like this: 1) Powerfist 2) Melta Bombs 3) Melta Bombs + Stormshield 4) Stormshield 5) Base weapons All are different. I didn't want to use MoTW or a bolter. I did actually model the bombs on the guys so I can tell who is who. TiguriusX
So my guys currently travel with#1 Thunder Hammer & Storm Shield #2 Storm Shield & Bolt Pistol #3 Close Combat Weapon & Bolt Pistol #4 Close Combat Weapon & Bolt Pistol & Melta Bomb #5 Close Combat Weapon & Bolter ( I know its one less attack but it’s free and makes the wound allocation work, It’s MAGIC trust me) How has this gone 2 pages without fixing this... TWC #2 is illegal. The TWC #1 already used up the single CCW exchanged for special item. In order to get a SS TWC #2 has to exchange his BP instead Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/196769-thunderwolves-what-works/page/4/#findComment-2370701 Share on other sites

TWC #2 is illegal. The TWC #1 already used up the single CCW exchanged for special item. In order to get a SS TWC #2 has to exchange his BP instead Why? TWC1 has TH+SS, TWC2 has BP+SS and hence they have different gear. SS can be taken to either hand. Even if both of them had only SS they would be considered different if they took SS to different "hand" (one replacing BP, other replaces CCW). Even then they wouldn't be illegals, just identical. Tyron
Why are people choosing a power fist over a thunder hammer? Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/196769-thunderwolves-what-works/page/4/#findComment-2372406 Share on other sites
surelock
Why are people choosing a power fist over a thunder hammer? I would guess because at St 10 much less lives through an attack making the extra points for the init 1 effect probably of less value. Levitas
I've taken the TH to support the wolf lord with frost blade, stop fast red BA tanks from driving off and to bash the odd dread. It depends on whats around you and who you play often, but hero hammer is back in fashion. So its nice to cripple a few high and mighty HQs while the Wolf Lord delivers the Coup de grâce. Roland Durendal
I just added two units to my army: First unit is my Lord's Bodyguard and has SS/MB on one guy, and just MB on the other guy. The secon dunit has one with TH/MB, SS/MB, and last guy just has MB. I've found they actually do survive for a long time and I think 3 is truly the sweet spot. You're spending no more than 250 pts for a unit that's just beastly. When you pump that up to 4 or 5, you're looking at upwards of 400+ points for 5 guys...so in a 2k point game you've sunk 20% of your force in 5 models...that scream all your eggs in one basket. I find the MSU mentality works best, several smaller units of TWC, so the enemy has to divide his attention/fire. Plus 3 TWC will eat through pretty much anything. As for my lord, he's your standard killy TWC Lord: WL with SS, WC, WTN, WTT, TWM, Saga of the Warrior Born. He'll eat through T4 and below with ease, chomp through T5 with no issues, and only really at T6 and above will he start to slow down in his killyness.
