Ok so kickingbird brought this up in another thread, we should have a thread where we can recount the most glorious achievements of our armies against the enemies of the Emperor! So if you're Wolf Guard Pack Leader kicked Khârn in the nads, or you're Wolf Priest downed a Carnifex with his Bolt Pistol lets hear it!

I'll start off with some highlights of my own:

Stemming the Black Tide

Fighting against a Black Legion army I wound up having Abaddon and Terminator Chosen retinue trying to cleave their way through my Grey Hunters after my Long Fangs wrecked their Land Raider ride back in 4th Edition. Deciding to nip the threat in the bud I had my Rune Priest cast Storm Caller on my Wolf Lord and his Wolf Guard Retinue who promptly charged into combat with Abaddon. Striking at Initiative 10 thanks to the mobile cover the power used to convene my Wolf Lord struck Abaddon down before he even got to attack, the Wolf Guard following suite by shredding the Chosen Terminators with Power Weapon and sheer numbers of close combat attacks before they could swing. My Wolf Lord consolidated behind a Drop Pod for cover and next turn ran around it with Storm Caller again cast on his squad and tore apart 3 Obliterrators, finishing my opponent off and securing a very rapid victory for the Stormblade Great Company!

Slaughter in the Artillery Bunker

Months ago when the Planetstrike expansion was first released the local GW held a massive Planetstrike game that wound up with 4 boards split into two tables of two boards each. On each of the double tables was roughly 45,000 points of models per side, which meant combined the two tables and both sides combined to a stunning 180,000 points deployed on two 12' by 4' tables. Of course not everything started on the tables, a lot was killed each turn and replaced from reserves the following Turn, an endless grind of attrition. Into this came twenty of my Grey Hunters, tasked to take a Traitor Guard Artillery Bunker. The 30 odd Guardsmen seemed like easy prey, little did I know what that fight would wind up to be.

The initial charge was devastating, the Imperial Guard Command squad being annihilated, but the shifty Stankov counts-as leading them avoided death retreated from the bunker into the cover of a nearby building. Despite losing 24 of the 30 initial Conscripts and Guardsmen the Artillery Bunker barely held out to be reinforced by another 30 Conscripts the following Turn who charged into combat with the Grey Hunters. For the next 4 turns the same thing repeated, with the Grey Hunters slaughtering their way through most of the Conscripts only to have another 20-30 be refreshed by Stankov and the Planetstrike rules the next turn coming on the table straight into the bunker. A unit of Blood Claws nearby that had slaughtered their way through a squad of Thousand Sons turned and engaged some of the reinforcements heading to the Artillery pit, giving the Grey Hunters enough time to finally kill the last of the Artillery crew and Conscripts. Newly arrived Black Templars secured the Artillery pit while the last 2 Grey Hunters, 1 from each of the 2 Packs, chased after Stankov into his chosen building of cover and though one was killed by the wily traitor the last surviving Pack Leader crushed the heretic in his Power Fist. The Wolf Guard was then sensible enough to move into contact with the Cathedral objective building in the center of the board and keep his head down, helping to secure the Objective while Seraphim and Grey Knights tore at each other on the battlements and spires above. All told over 4 Turns my 20 Grey Hunters had suffered 19 Cassualties and killed over 100 Conscripts and Guardsmen, finally silencing the thump of the traitor Artillery.

Ironclade Revenge

During the same Planetstrike battle my Space Wolves were the target of nefarious treachery. One attacker on each table was secretly selected to turn traitor before Turn 3. What I didn't know was that the Aurora Chapter Marines that were to my Space Wolves direct left and were the only other allies on the entire 4' flank at the time were the traitors. On Turn 1 my Crusader full of Blood Claws had rolled onto the table and destroyed a Black Legion Land Raider with it's Multi-Melta, simultaneously deploying the Blood Claws into a trench full of Thousand Sons. Immediately on the Defender Turn 1 the Aurora Chapter turned traitor and my Crusader faced the Aurora Crusader that had been apparently supporting its flank and its own Multi-Melta. Agast at the abrupt treachery I could just watch as my Crusader was wrecked by the traitor marines. Fortunately like many large games at the local GW store each player gets to bring back a destroyed unit each turn and of course that would be my Crusader. At the start of Turn 2 the Howling Wolf came roaring back onto the field out for blood, Multi-Melta blasting apart the Aurora Land Raider and killing 4 traitor marines in the explosion the Land Raider additionally turned it's Assault Cannons on a nearby Aurora Chapter Vindicator and shredded the machines rear armor, the explosion of its death killing another 2 traitors. Satisfied my Crusder rumbled across the field towards more traitor guard tanks and set about toppling a number of heretic Leman Russ' while my Grey Hunters and Blood Claws fought savagely against an endless tide of Conscripts, alone and unsupporte don the left flank of the battle while my other 6 allies fought tooth and nail on the other half of the board the Space Wolves stood alone but despite the odds the traitor Aurora Chapter suffered the terrible wrath of the Sons of Russ more than any other.

Where There's a Will There's a Way

Last month's end of the month Apocalypse game saw my Space Wolves pitted against a variety of foes, but despite early success a number of players dropped out on the enemy side and so they were awarded a pair of Super-Heavies, a Baneblade and a Shadowsword. To my chagrin an Iron Warriors Baneblade rumbled onto the field right infront of my Land Raider Crusader, the Howling Wolf. Lascannons, Autocannon, main gun, Demolisher Cannon and Heavy Bolters all tore into my Land Raider and its allies. The Leman Russ to my Land Raiders left exploding under the fury of a lascannon while half a dozen marines were pasted by a long scattering main gun blast, the heavy bolters cutting down several scouts and finally the Demolisher Cannon tore apart the tracks of the Howling Wolf.

The audacity of the attack was enough to irk the heck out of me, so the Howling Wolf's assault ramp dropped and 16 angry Blood Claws came spilling out and headed straight towards the Baneblade. They were little threat to it but they weren't supposed to be, it was just in the way of their true target, an objective beyond the tank. My Crusader on the other hand still had it's Assault Cannons and Multi-Melta and they let rip into the Baneblade even as it suffered fire from allies arriving across the table. One of the tanks structure points went down to the assault but I was intent on killing it and so with the target weakened but still alive I fired my tanks weapons. The Multi-Melta failed to hit its target but all four Assault Cannon shots were on target. I rolled anxiously hoping for a 6 and sure enough, the dice were with me and I got a single rending shot. Rolling it again the shot penetrated and on the damage chart I rolled a 6, the chain reaction took off a second structure point finally destroying the wretched traitor tank, but I didn't want the vehicle to explode and incinerate my Blood Claws so I kept my fingers crossed as I rolled but fortunately the tank was just wrecked and did not explode. Howling in glee my Blood Claws continued their sprint and crawled over the hull of the dead Super-Heavy tank as they headed towards the objective, finally siezing it next turn in a brutal but short close combat. The reign of the Iron Warriors Baneblade was short lived indeed and the Howling Wolf racked up yet another impressive kill.

Even Gods Can Bleed

Today my Wolves achieved many things, but their greatest achievment was tackling the Deciever, C'Tan of the vile Necron Xenos. The foul abomination had savaged through the Imperium's ranks with Impunity, destroying an honored Grey Knight Land Raider Crusader, tearing apart a Blood Angels Dreadnaugth and savaging a squad of Grey Knight Terminators. Incensed by this audacious foe the Blood Claws of pack Elysan charged into combat with the foe along with many allies. Grey Knight Terminators battered at the terrible foe with their Nemesis Force Halbard and Claymores while a pair of Blood Angels Dreadnaughts tore at the foe with their Blood Talons and even the vaunted Chapter Master Pedro Kantor grappled unsuccessfully with the foe. Into this combat charged Wolf Guard Pack Leader Elysan, his Power Fist crackling with energy he smashed into the xenos monstrosity, pounding it repeatedly, despite shrugging off psychic and ballistic attacks from numerous squads, Land Raiders and Dreadnaughts and all the blows of its enemies so far in close combat the Deciever was taken aback by the unexpected attack and suffered not one but two wounds to Pack Leader Elysan. This gave Kantor the opening the Chapter Master of the Crimson Fists needed and he took off another wound. The following round the Deciever was battered, cut and dorn into a million fragments by the unbridled fury of the Emperor's Astartes. Satisfied that even a God can bleed Pack Leader Elysan rallied his followers and loped off towards one of the designated Objectives, securing it for the Sons of Russ, his Blood Claws inspired by their leaders courage and skill, confident that no foe could stand before them.

So those are just some of the most shining highlights of my Stormblade Great Company, gather round Sons of Russ and regale us of your mightiest Sagas and greatest Deeds of Heroism, stubborn-tenacity or outright insanity!

Great stories mate, just the sort of thing I was hoping people would post. I'll add my first contribution by requoteing the tale of my heroic wolfguard.

My WG on bike and 1 wound attack bike was charged by a unit of 16 hormagaunts, the attack bike is killed straight away leaving the WG to fight them off for 3 turns! Saving over 12 wounds! And even won the combat twice! In the end he held the unit up for so long that it stopped them capturing the objective that they were trying to get to and won me the game.

Hope this post catches on, it should be something that all true sons of Russ should contribute to.

Like where this thread is going.

The Fury of the Blood

My Wolf Lord, Berek Thunderfist, with Wolf Claw, Storm shield and Thunderwolf charges the famed Fate Weaver and fails to do any damage through it's 3+/3+. Then the deamons send 6 blood crushers charging the Wolf Lord and forcing me to make 12 invulnerable saves which I manage to pass everyone and then kill 2 blood crushers and put a wound on another, making the deamons take fearless saves which kills another blood crusher and puts a wound on Fate Weaver, to which he fails his morale and is removed from the board. The Wolf Lord took two wounds but killed off the rest of the blood crushers and went on to take out a plague bearer squad before the game ended.

Heart of the Hive

My same Wolf Lord, except with a thunderhammer this time instead of wolf claw. Fighting and ambush mission, my Space Wolves escorting a guard army through a jungle terrain which is assaulted by tyranids. While my Grey hunters squads hold off guants and genestealers with the help of the guard. My Wolf Lord charges off to fight the biggest toughest thing he can find....the Hive Tyrant with tyrant guard. Charging in, I survive the barrage of 8 bone sword wounds, taking only one wound and making my moral check vs instant death. I manage to only do 4 wounds and kill two off the tyrant guard. The second round of combat I make 4 of my 5 invulnerable saves, taking another wound and passing another moral check. Dealing 4 wounds against and killing the last tyrant guard and putting two wounds on the tyrant. He saves all his fearless wounds. Last round of combat I save against 4 invulnerable saves and finish off the tyrant with 3 thunderhammer wounds. My Wolf Lord consolidated and then went on to kill a tyranofex shooting at the guard's command vehicle. Laying it low in one round of combat.

I'll throw in an anecdote or two. My HQs have pulled off some impressive feats in their day, but the best story definitely comes from a lowly Blood Claw's duel with a Wraithlord:

Giantslayer

All dead but Bjarkar. All of his packmates had fallen to the towering monstrosity before them, the eldritch construct the Grey Hunters had warily called a "Wrathlord" or something. "Wraithlord," maybe? None of that mattered right now. Right now, he and the ancient creature were locked in deadly combat, and he would be damned if he was going to die on his first combat deployment. The creature swung one of its massive arms towards him with speed its ponderous form belied. Bjarkar flicked the power field around his Fist to life and in a fluid motion even old Hakenor would have had to respect, sidestepped the blow and then counterattacked. The Power Fist caught the Wraithlord at the joint, smashing through its elbow and rendering the arm useless. A cry from the creature pierced Bjarkar, ringing not in his ears but in his very soul. Sensing weakness, the Wolf within him answered its call. Blow after blow came at him, but he was too fast, too hungry, and his prey would not escape, no matter how large, how powerful.

When Bjarkar could see straight again, he was standing amidst the tangled wreck of the alien construct. One of its knees had been ripped out, its other arm was nowhere to be seen, and somebody had done a fantastic job caving in its sloping head with repeat strikes from a Power Fist. He remembered a strange voice whispering in his head and little else besides the swelling sense of pride that this had been his work, his doing! Howling and glorious and profoundly overconfident, Bjarkar turned and began sprinting across the battlefield towards the nearest target.

When they found Bjarkar, he was in the Red Sleep; having been rather embarrassingly shot apart as he charged, alone and headlong, into a squad of Guardians. Still, he lived, and would fight another day.

Summary: One of my Blood Claws took on a Wrathlord, pretty much solo after his squad was wiped out by shooting and then the first round of combat, and managed to not only survive several rounds of combat with no backup but actually make all of his morale checks and win in the end. He was then promptly shot to death, but it's amazing what some brand-new organs and a keg of ale can do for your health. For his heroism, he received a direct promotion to the Wolf Guard, though Bjarkar of the Iron Claw, Giantslayer, continues to serve alongside Blood Claws much of the time.

So Much for Tactical Genius...

They stalked silently; their prey in this exercise was both critical to their enemies and ill-armed; the best kind for hunters who relied on surprise. Sorim Shadowsvel, pack leader, hadn't uttered a single word since deployment. None of his packmates needed to hear that this mission was absolutely key; they wouldn't have been deployed or it wasn't.

Nobody saw them until it was too late. Nobody heard the meltabomb's silent application to the underside of the tank. And nobody but his packmates heard Sorim whisper "Who's the Tactical Genius now" under his breath.

Summary: In a recent game against Imperial Guard, a squad of Wolf Scouts used BEL Outflank to arrive directly behind the command Chimera containing none other than Castellan CREEEEEEEED, the very Tactical Genius who had recently delivered a Demolisher to my back lines via priority mail. The Scouts' Wolf Guard leader then repaid the favor by putting a deadly meltabomb up the tailpipe of the Chimera while the Scouts surrounded it (it was already against walls on two sides), destroying the transport and preventing Creed's escape, trapping him in the exploding wreck and hence vaporizing his squad.

Blood Claw's Luck

My very first game with the wolves i went up against an iron clad with 5 grey hunters. I had equipped one with 2 wolf claws. The Iron clad got 4 attacks off and pooched 4 dudes. My friend told me to keep my wolf claws guy as he was the only one in the whole group who could glance the heavy mechanized walker. I make my attacks back. 1 dice hit with a 6. goes through. I got the 6 to hit now i need a 6 to wound (rend it) and a 6 to immobilize.

I roll to wound. What pops up? SIX! on lookers watched and rooted for the little guy to roll his glancing hit. The roll hits the table and bounces to hit the dreadnought in the front armour of the model sending the model back about an inch. (thought this was significant because...) OH LOOk! A SIX! this one little guy had managed to shake the devils hand and come out with his poker chips. the next turn was mine. The brave grey hunter was supported by a squad of Wolf guard and are victorious in front of the face of the Iron clad. The crowd roared and didn't believe the dice gods had given the luck of the blood claw to one doomed for death.

The enemy outnumber us a paltry thirteen to one! Good odds for any Space Wolf

My first game with my tourny list was against Orks in Nov. The game seen the Orks Hordes wipe down to a mere 30 Orks, well ten of them where mega armour & where pinned on my turn 2 (I went second). In the end the Ork player give up on turn 3 before my assault, where all I had loss was one Grey Hunter, a Dreadnought & a Razorback.

It basicly went

Turn 1 (me) - I destroyed half of his army tanks/Trukks

Turn 2 (oppent) - Assault me from the unit mount in tanks, they where slaughter, Orks kill one Grey Hunter

Turn 2 (me) - I destroyed all other remain tanks, Battle Wagon is destoyed & pinned his Mega armour boyz

Turn 3 (oppent) - Assault a Dreadnought & a Razorback (use a bumper so I could counter attack), he assault & I destoy everthing he assault

Turn 3 (me) - He has 40 orks left that this stage, ten where slaughter by shooting.......I got to assault 20 Orks boyz only for my oppent to give up. His Mega Armour as said where pinned & where pretty much out of the game, I set up so they where out of reach, take them to turn 5-6 to arrive to my side.

And now, as then, a beast approaches; patient and confident, savoring the meal to come.

My local GW manger started Nids army when the codex was release, his force (bit of everthing) was slaughter many of a gamer army in two turns. I got challenge, was my tourny list but to make it up to 2000pts, added 500pts so a unit of Wolf Guards & Land Raider

Game saw me winning with 15 Kill points vs 7 (out of 12).

Thing that stood out where, Wolf Guards Terminators slaughter everthing in sight from big unit of Gaunts, to taken on a Hive tyrant, to even face of the Swarm Lord. Though they got slaughter by the Swarm lord, they did mange to take him down to a mere two wounds. Later on a Dreadnought with out any arm's assaulted the Swarm lord & only got a "stunnded result", saw that Dreadnought killing the might Swarm Lord.

Give them nothing! But take from them everything!

A game vs Chaos Space Marines. This game stood out because it saw good old Bjorn go head to head with a Tzeentch Daemon Prince in close combat. The Daemon Prince did nothing to Bjorn, only for him to be sent back to the warp. What can I say, Space Wolves hate Tzeentch & the Thasound Sons.

Other than that the game seen the Black Legion Chaos force down to a mere two Obliterators on one wound each (two single squads) & all I loss was a handful of Grey Hunter, Rune Priest (Bjorn failed DT test to assault some Bezerker)

Taught never to retreat, never to surrender. Taught that death on the battlefield in service to Space Wolf was the greatest glory he could achieve in his life

Fought the new Blood Angels on Mon. This game stood out because it been the most bloodiest of games I fought in agies. Was very down the wire.

Blood Angels making assault & my Space Wolves putting up a great stand. But turn 5 I belive we only had one model left each for the troop chose trying to grab Objects. It had a lot of epic parts from HQ's battle it out with each other, Duly between my Dreadnought vs a Death Company Dreadnought, Tanks vs Tanks in a shot out. While over all, all that was left in our armies after the games was finish was

Me - Bjorn, Immobile Dreadnought, Dreadnought, Razorback w/destroyed weapon

Oppent - Baal Predators w/destroyed turret & a Drop Pod

There been a few other. But these once are the once that stand out the most when I think about my Wolves & the battles they been in

IP

Of this must I say of my Wolf Priest, Wulfgar, he took it upon himself to take a pack of Blood Claws into battle against the monstrosities of the Tyranids. Mind you, this was many moons ago, before newer generations have influenced our ways. Thus it was that the pack not only slew a mighty Carnifex in close combat, but pressed on and claimed the head of the Hive Tyrant as well!

The Blood Tide of Ginnungagap

Wolf lord Sturgart peered across the bloodied sands of the deamon world Ginnungagap, landing just

an hour before in thunder hawk gunships. He heard rirualistic chanting of a foul race in the winds. He turned his head to regard his own forces. 3 Grey hunter squads, two of which had armoured transport in the form of rhinos apc's, readied themselves on the foot of the hill on which the main force lay, consisiting of the great dreadnought Jorek, armed with his favoured autocannons, the wise rune priest Hilminlorg, 10 tired scouts who had recently joined them from the mountains of Muspellheim looking for alternate drop sites should the need for rienforcment arise. There were none. At the very summet of the hill, stood the 3 proud wolf guard terminators; His choosen elite, Torvil the Red with his axe and the shield of the midgard which all of Sturgarts choosen carried. Beside him stood Eririk longtooth brandishing his single wolf claw with a wicked grin. And last, Clanging his thunder hammer against his shield, stood Egil the Terse, Howling his challenge to whoever or whatever monstrocity inhabited this foul planet.

Sturgart led his mount, the great thunderwolf Fenrir, to the front of his force and spared one last look at the reason they where here. A great obelisk standing in the centre of his wolf guard, this ominous pillar was the last object needed by the Deamon Prince Surt to complete an obscene ritual which could potentially cut the light of the astronomicon from the Fenris sector.

Sturgart felt the crackling of ozone in the air, and knew his foe had arrived.

Game

This was the Battle mission All round defence. I faced a deamon player whos force consisted of-

- 3 10 man squads of bloodletters

-deamon prince

-10 deamonettes with changiling

-skulltaker

-soulgrinder

The game ended with me winning. Sturgart died killing the deamon prince Surt (same I)

the last surviving member of the battle was a lone grey hunter who held the objective, killing Skulltaker in close combat with his power fist even as the hacked his way through the rest of his pack. He stood defiant by the Obelisk surrounded by the bodies of friend and foe.

I've got a recent story against the 'Nids:

Wrath of Odin's Son

My Lone Wolf Thor, complete with Termie armor, Storm Shield, Thunderhammer, and his faithful Fenrisian Wolf, manage to finally corner there TMC quarry after much running around. The beast was a Swarmlord, who I jokingly referred to as Jormagundr. Needless to say I charge in and take 3 wounds. 1 goes to his faithful wolf (killing him), and the other 2 to Thor, who saves both. He strikes back, 1 wound on Jormie. Next round, another 3 wounds on Thor, saves 2, takes a wound, but passes his LD for instant-death. He returns the favor, and scores two wounds back on the beast. This continues into a third round where Thors manages to save the last wounds put onhim by the dying beast, and he of course slays his fearsome opponent.

And that was pretty much the highlight of his game, for after that he never got a chance to charge any other big nasties, due to it being Turn 4,and most of the remaining monstrous creatures were over 12"away.

Farseer Eldrad vs Rune Priest Tyrir the One Handed (...his pistol hand broke off). Now, Tyrir was just your run of the mill 100 point Rune Priest, up against one of the best Psykers in the game. I gave him Tempest's Wrath and Murderous Hurricane, but due to the runes of warding, I wisely decided not to risk it.

Two turns before the end of the game, I am holding most of the objectives, and he doesn't really have the firepower to move me without some psychic buffing and debuffing So Eldrad casts mindwar, doom, and guide. What does Tyrir do? Doom? Negated. Mindwar? Negated. Guide? Negated. Sighing, the Eldar player fires on the Tyrir's Grey Hunters with his Dire Avengers anyways, and doesn't really accomplish anything.

Then the Eldar player lucks out, and rolls a 6 for difficult terrain on his Avatar, and assaults Tyrir's squad. Uh oh! They fight it out, and Tyrir inflicts a single wound on it with his runic weapon, leaving only a two left. My turn, I due a meager vindication of the dire avengers, leaving Eldrad and about six survivors. Tyrir and his two remaining Grey Hunters keep fighting, and he and powerfist inflict two more wounds on the Avatar, slaying it!

With little options left, Eldrad tries to psychic the Tyrir and the survivors - I have so few guys left that it could work. How ever, Tyrir pulls through, and every single power is negated once more, and saves vs shuriken shooting are made! Unfortunately, they are now close enough to contest - and this is the last turn and the vindicator just bought it to a far-away bright lance..

My turn. I keep my two Grey Hunters at the objective, and move Tyrir in a way that has him leave the unit, but gives him distance to assault. He kills one dire avenger with his bolt pistol and assaults through cover, and the grey hunters kill 3 more. Because of his assault grenades, he actually gets to attack first, and inflicts three more wounds, killing the dire avengers. Eldrad flubs his to-hit roll, and fails to stop Tyrir's assault.

The dire avengers death actually removed them from contesting distance, and the game ends in my victory, with Tyrir and Eldrad locked in close combat.

I thought it was a very appropriate ending. They fought constantly since they game started, but even in the end they never even wounded each other.

Nice Sagas guys ^^ really enjoyed reading them....

Guess I'll add some of my mighty deeds....

The Sagas of Lord Howling

No matter the odds...

It was back in my earliest days of playing spacewolves....and a friend of mine talked my into participating at a lokal tourney...

During a battle against the vile Eldar scum my brave young wolflord Howling saw his brothers in a great pinch....surrounded by xenos scum from all sides and quite on the disadvantage (as most of my forces where forced to stay in the open...) Lord Howling knew that something had to be done... just now one of the xenos's battle tanks, a thing they called Illum...Illhum...Ill....whatever, had just killed 4 of Hrotgars Squad and just behind it the abominable Avatar was walking towards their lines....

With anger in his eyes Lord Howling raised his Boltpistol and aimed at the battle tank. Knowing that Boltshells wouldn't deal much damage but unwilling to let the enemy pass his lines without resistance he fired some random shoots at the back of the tank.....and let loose a howl of triumph as a lucky hit somehow managed to penetrate the hull and obviously hit something vital as the tank vanished in a bright explosion of crystal and fire....

Knowing that he had to use this small victory to increase morale Lord Howling instantly ordered a full blown charge and rushed forward to meet their enemies leader, the incarnation of eldar war and hate itself, the mighty avatar. In a long clash of swords Lord Howling somehow managed to slaughter the Avatar while remaining completely unharmed himself. Raising his frostblade to the sky with a deafening warcry Howling continued his attack and the day ended with a bloody massacre of the xenos scum, turning a disastrous lose into a bloodbath....

(Yeah I know..my storytelling sucks, just had to improve my "My Wolflord shot a Illhum Zar with his Bolt Pistol and then defeated the Avatar without a single wound.." thingi a little *g*)

No matter how strong the Opponent....

During a fight against the thousand sons Lord Howling and his trusted thunderwolf Bifrost slaughtered through a full squad of thousand sons, banished a great demon of tzeentch and oblitered 2 squads of 2 obliterators, ending their killing frency with half another squad of thousand sons.....

No matter how many Opponents there are....

In a revenge battle against a joined force of Thousand Sons and some traitorous astartes chapter Lord Howling and his Thunderwolve Cavalry bashed their way through a 5 man terminator squad, their landraider, two rhinos, and ended up in 20 Thousand sons lead by Ahriman.... In the following battle my thunderwolve cavalry managed to slaughter several thousand sons before getting dragged down by the sheere mass, leaving Lord Howling on his own....

But this didn't bother Lord Howling and shouting out a challenge to Ahriman he crossed blades with his chapters old foe for several rounds of combat, completely ignoring the hailstorm of hits comming from the remaining thousand sons and only concentrating on their leader...

After 4 rounds of combat he finally managed to land a lethal wound with his thunderhammer and sent the evil sorcerer back into his realm...

With his opponent killed he continued to wreak havoc among the remaining thousand sons and keept doing so until the battle was over...

By doing so he had basically bound or killed about half of our opponents forces on his own and won the day by doing so...

No matter the sacrifices you have to make....

During one of our GWs Apocalypse fights which took place on two big plates with each army fielding about 20000 points my wolflord took it upon himself to charge the right flank of our enemies (which was swarming with orcs and imperial traitors) leaving the imperial guard and some other marines as backup for the landing platform....

Since his trusted thunderwolf cavalry wasn't with him on that day he charged forward with a pack of fenrisian wolves and wrecked a unit of orc bikers to shreeds before dashing a truck down. His next target would have been the traitor imperials command units, but seeing the damage he had caused on his own the traitors and orcs decided that it was best to get rid of the danger...and ordered a full blown attack on him. In this turn Lord Howling took a beating from the WHOLE TABLE SIDE on this plate, meaning that ALL enemy units started shooting at him, including several tanks, Ord Battlewagons, countless soldiers, artillery, vendettas and other nasty stuff....

As the smoke cleared Lord Howling and Bifrost stood there, Storm shield held high, bleeding but alive....and with horror in their eyes the traitor imperial command had to use it's last remaining power, ordering 20 genestealers to attack the battered lord....

they managed to inflict 3 wounds on him which he only managed to save 1.....and thus lost his remaining 1 wound to the 20 genestealers...

But since our enemies had wasted a whole turn of shooting on a single unit the next turn was devastating for them and we managed to nearly table our enemies from this side of the table...(did I mention a titan was guarding the way to the second table???.....but what happened on this table is the story of another saga..)

No matter the kind of foes you face (aka The Saga of the Women/Bug Beater)....

In my most recent battle Lord Howling and his Thunderwolves charged along their fellow brothers the Blood Angels. Led by Mephiston and Lord Howling they faced the evil thread of Dark Eldar and Tyranids (Both the best tournament players in our GW Store *yikes*).

In the battle to come the space wolves had to learn the hard way that some brothers just weren't to be trusted when it came to guarding your flanks.....but that's not the point of the Saga...

Rushing straight into the enemies heart, ignoring all those nasty lance weapons and spore barrages Lord Howling and his wolves smashed into a unit of 30 shooty creepers, and with a little support from the death company they instantly vaporised the unit....

Standing in a crowded corridor the brave wolves had to face the anger of countless Tyranid weapons and where reduced to less than half their sice (leaving 2 thunderwolves and Lord Howling with 2 wounds...) and got attacked by a unit of Tyranid Warriors with Horn Swords and poison sacks (OUCH! hit on 3+ Wound on 4+ Instant death even against T5 anyone???)....

But Lord Howling decided that this wasn't the enemy he wanted to fight against and within two rounds of combat his unit had squashed the little bugs beneath their claws...

Next on the plate was the big bug...a Swarmlord or however the thing was called....nasty little T6 W6 MC thing with lots of shooty stuff attached to it...

Seeing that my Lord had crushed the Warriors the tyranid player was forced to attack my Lord to save the rest of his troops, but since he was kinda afraid of them by now he asked for some Dark Eldar support, and a unit of 10 Hagashins answered by charging them as well....

In the storm of hits the remaining 2 Thunderwolves died, leaving Lord Howling on his own against the Tyranid Leader and 10 crazy women!

(This happened at turn 3 or 4....)

The fight continued until the end of round 6.....with Lord Howling killing all Hagashin and taking away half of the Tyranids 6 wounds....

Too bad he lost his last wound at turn 6 as I would have loved to see them struggle until the end of turn 7 *g* but it sure was a fight to behold and the whole Store watched every round of combat between my Lord and his foes ...

to be continued.....

Njal's Circle of the Rune....

This happened on the other side of the table during the "no matter the sacrifice you have to make.." saga...

My Wolves where forced to advance under the constant barrage of a traitor Reaver Titan and 2 traitor Baneblades.....and after the titanic melta weapon of the traitor monstrosity had destroyed most of their transporters my wolves where forced to walk by foot......

This side of the battlefield was lead by Njal and 4 of his most trusted Rune Priests...and just as they emerged from their wrecked Landraider the terrible might of a Tetragon of Evil materialised right before them....a vast host of demons led by 4 great demons of the ruinous powers....

Seeing that their special powers where needed Njal and his brothers in art instantly went to battle and opened the earth below their enemies feet.....

In the following cleft in the ground half of the tetragon of evil vanished, meaning a unit of plaguebearers, a unit of tzeentch demons, a great demon of slaanesh (Initiative 10? who cares O.o) and some other stuff that walked around there....

Furious by this the demons charged Njal and his fellows with a whole unit of daemonettes...and after the bloody fight only Njal and 1 fellow Runepriest was remaining....

They managed to take away 3 wounds from a gigantic Nurgle Demon (some sorta special Character that counted as gigantic monster and thus wasn't affected by Jaw of the World Wolf...and had 10 lives...) and then got attacked by the giant in return...

After taking away another 2 wounds from the beast they were defeated by the monstrosity of nurgle......but their brothers took revenge for them and banished the demon lord before the battle was over....

The Deathwolves

There are no wolves on fenris??? You might want to rethink that....

During one of my battles against our brothers the Dark Angels a fenrisian wolf squad (10 wolves) of mine (which was henceforth known as the deathwolves) managed to obliterate a squad of 6 Deathwing Terminators lead by a Dark Angel Scriptor in Terminator Armor....singlehandedly protecting my middlesection. But to add some fun they continued by killing about half a tactical squad and 3 members of a vhonourguard squad as well before finally getting shoot down.....obviously their wounds where taken care of and they where returned to service with new shiny augmentics and an extra portion of meat...

On another fight against the hated Thousand Sons my deathwolves managed to defeat a demonprince of tzeentch and half a squad of thousand sons on their own....

Like I said...my storytelling kinda sucks, but anyway.....The Saga of Lord Howling continues....

By the wolves howl, we march

In a local tourney my Thunderwolf cav sucedded on may fronts. Namley, against a foul traitor legion as they poured fire from thier entire army into the squad killing none. The Thunder wolf cav, led by Wolf Lord Matthias destroyed a vindicator, chaos squad and thier rhino and one other vindi. They were finnaly felled but thier heroic sacrifice allowed the rest of the army to sweep chaos positions. The assault cannons roared into fleeing traitor maries... the sight was worthy of Russ!

Thunder hammers of the gods!

Again, same tourney, this time against traitorous guard, Mathias himself felled a valkerie, two devil dog tanks and a chimera which exploded killed 7 of 10 guard inside and sent the survivors fleeing for thier very lives!

10.2 on the ricter scale!

Njal storm caller has personnaly racked up an impressive 4 kills with Jaws of the World wolf! Pedro khator, Logan grimmnar (they had a dispute over mutt and pure breed!) and Ghazkull Thrakka. The second time Njal and Grim fueded Loggans killing blow was struck by none other than Njals pet birdie right through the chapter masters eye lol.

Rage against the beast

Sky claws lead by a wolf priest charged valiantly at Gazkull Thrakka and smote him into ruin during his 2+ inv save whaaaag! Talk about an anti-climax for the ork player!

Hello!

To tell the tale from the other side, I was playing a Khorne army and my friend was playing Space Wolves.

Khorne cares not from where the red river flows, only that it does.

As it was, my Daemon Prince, S'clarr, got surrounded by Bloodclaws who promptly pounded his head into the nearby cliff wall and sent him back to the warp, and ran on to kill my chaos lord and several beserkers before they where cut down :)

Overall a very fun battle!

Thanks,

Saga of the Bloody Handed God

A while ago now, my namesakes finest hour in a 4th edition game.

A wild battle was raging between Frostbringer's Great Company of Space Wolves and a close combat orientated Eldar host. The Space Wolves had had it tough in the early going, and several of their key transports had taken heavy xenos lance and melta fire, leaving Battle leader Nostromo dangerously exposed to the aspect warriors and their monstrous allies. Armed with his Frost Blade and invaluable storm shield, and with his back to the smoking remains of his transport, he stood against wave after wave of charging xenos. As his few remaining Grey Hunters died to a man around him, he killed first a squad of striking scorpians including an exarch, then finished off a squad of Dire Avengers before taking the last wound off a wraithlord (the wolf guard on the Grey Hunters had softened it up!). Blooded but unbowed, he looked up to see the Avatar of Khaine finish the last of his blood claw opponents and look up for fresh opposition. In an incredible display of bravery and skill he charged the monstrosity, taking blow after blow on his storm shield, before sending his daemonic opponent back to the warp with sweeps of his Frost Blade. Joined by more Hunters who had been delayed by further transport explosions, he then led a counter-attack into the heart of the eldar lines, crushing several warlocks beneath his boot before taking the head of the farseer himself. This broke the eldars spirit, and the remaining warriors fled from his wrath. One warrior had turned defeat into victory single handed... truly the stuff of legends.

After this I bought shares in several storm shield manufacturing companies  :o. I made something in the region of 25 3+ saves in a row for him (everyone else was dying fast  <_< ), mostly against power weapons or other armour ignoring stuff - lucky, yes, but he didn't even take a single wound and killed in the region of 6 times his points cost. Russ be praised!

aye its big but it will fall all the same

i was playing a two on two allied game last week. it was my wolves and my freinds gaurd fighting against two tyranid players. my power armoured, frost axe/CCW weilding lone wolf was my only model not locked in bloody combat. seeking to remedy the situation he boarded an allied valkyrie (fitting) which then moved flat out across the board towards the alien horde.

deploying via grav chute insertion my lone wolf landed (got a hit on the scatter dice) right in front of a rampaging carnifex complete with crushing claws, frag spines, adrenal glands and regeneration. because he had disembarked under the rules of deep strike i couldent charge but my opponent didnt have a problem charging me in his turn so that was fine. i went first in combat scoring all three of his hits (+1 for counter charge) but only two of which wounded.

some how the carnifex failed both its saves and in its 4 return attacks hit 3 times and of those 3 only one wounded. i failed my feal no pain check but thanks to eternal warrior and my LW was able to stick it out to come back and slay the beast the next turn.

he then consolidated into a combat of ogryn, blood claws and a huge unit of gaunts. eventually he did fall to the chittering horde butnot after etching his name into the legends of the wolves (search for Armod the cursed).

The Earning of His Name

The Wolves of Erik Morkai's Great Company have met with the evil of the Thousand Sons.

A patrol force of Wolves led by an inexperienced Rune Priest discovered a force of Noise Marines supported by a unit of Thousand Sons. Leading his two squads of Greyhunters forward the young priest was able to thwart the Thousand Sons Sorcerer. The priest and his unit where able to destroy the Sons' Rhino, and were reinforced by a small band of Wolf Scouts. The Scouts lured out the Chaos Lord from the ranks of the Thousand Suns and were killed to the man. They were quickly avenged by melta and plasma fire from the Wolves Rhinos that had charged through dangerous terrain to try to aid the Scouts. The patrol fought the forces of Chaos to a stand still losing only the Scout band while depriving Chaos of a Lord and a Rhino transport.

The priest earned his name that day do to action taken against the Sorcerer of the Thousand Sons.

TEARS OF THE ELDAR

upon the jungles of weldens world the eldar fell harasing the imperial colony there unto its extinction, answering the call for blood battle leader johanson lead a small contingent of blackmaine company to the dark steamy jungles .the foul xenos scum had amongst there number a vile avatar while lord johanson duel and his pack of wolf guard dueled the beast squad eninar ever the practical sons of russ drop poded into the eldar lines emerging from there pod with flame and bolter fire felling a squad of guardians too stupid to move as the wolf guard started to fall lone wolf juron stalked an enermy wraith lord , and lord johanson wounded the eldar god its icor burnning the soil as it fell

einar again unleashed hell felling a second squad of guardians and charging the farseer and his body guard

what followed was worthy of leman russ himself the avatar fell in a firey scream the farseer not predicting his fate was reaved by einars blody blades his warlocks lay around him in bloody heaps

THE FALLEN OF HORUS

desending from the skys upon contrails of doom blackmaine company decended upon the world of faze near the infernal regions the black legion had thrown up a fortress to challange the god emperors loyal sons as the pods started to land abbadon himself steped out upon the field shielded by his bodyguard of twisted terminators

with a howl ragnar and his guard charged forward slaying the terminators and wounding the beast but 10000 years had taught horuses chosen son many skills with a sweep of his vile blade did the wolf guard fall ,brother greylock the dreadnought seeing his lords peril charged forward only to have his legs smashed from underhim wolf priest erik leading his pack of blood claws assailed the dark lord but they fell to the vile blade lord ragnar stunned by a blow from the foul lord fell unconcous to the floor as the drop pod of the mighty squad eniar landed not far from the sight of the pile of wolf dead and wounded ,decending from the ramp brother einar raised his bolter in challange "now beast meet your master in hell"squad eniar opened fire the beast was cast back into the warp by the cleansing fire ,seeing there lord fall and more wolves upon the field they stood no chance

The Crushing Jaws:

Whilst fighting alongside the imperial guard against foul chaos marines, Wolf Priest Lars and his grey hunter bodyguard (10 men), managed to wipe out 2 Daemon Princes, 20 Plague Marines and their lord (thanks to JotWW, opponent set them up in a nice line pretty much...), 10 Khorne Berzerkers.

Stopping the green machine:

Leading his grey hunter pack again, Wolf Priest Lars and his trusty 10 men slaughtered almost half of the Ork army (2000 pts). The GH's and Lars mobilised into enemy lines, slowing the Orks with Murderous Hurricane. The Orks were totally unprepared for this, and were caught on the back foot by the charging space wolves. The grey hunters and Lars cut them down to a man (30 ish Orks). Ghazgull watching from affar sent his stormboyz to eliminate Lars and his brave boys. Sadly for the Orks these were also cut down as the Grey Hunters and Lars prepared to recieve the charge. Realising that the only way to get a job done properly, was to do it yourself, Ghazgull and his Nobz made their way towards the Grey Hunters and Lars. Whilst the brave Grey Hunters and their Rune Priest did not survive this time (they were down to 6 GH and 1 RP at this point), they did however manage to take out Ghazgull and a fair few Nobz with their charge.

The Ancients arise for war

(Im no Skald, Ill just say what happened :P )

There was a big dreadnought fight up at my local workshop, with some addiitonal rules for capturing a hill, as well as sinking into the earth should you not move. I took Bjorn and a Venerable Dreadnought, and in 1 turn of shooting, Bjorn destroyed all of a kill kan squad of 3, the ven dread wrecked a deff dread with a MM glancing hit; all in 1 turn :P I then went on to destroy a librarian dreadnought and as Bjorn charged forward to kill a DC furioso, I wrecked that with 1 lucky asscannon shot  It was epic indeed; the managers eyes were wide open after the first salvo of shots put another player out fo game before he had fired a shot :P

Back in fourth ed I was having a 4x multiplayer 1000pts. Chaos and necrons v Imp Guard and my wolves. None of us were very good back then and the necron player had his whole army clumped around the necron lords resurection orb. I assaulted the whole lot of them with WL and termies and a pack of grey hunters and wiped them ALL out. Not even sweeping advance was needed. Oh and I also had a rune priest in the mix (he got the NL with his RW)
