Assassins

(I'm really trying to close this can of worms, there was a long thread on this already)

Full quote is;

+1 Two Weapons: Engaged Models with two single handed weapons (typically a close combat weapon and/or pistol in each hand) get an extra +1 attack.

Why those two types?

Close Combat Weapons are surprisingly weapons you can use in CC (split into 'normal' and 'special'). Pistol type guns can be used as CCW (From both the ranged and Assault sections).

In addition, a Pistol counts as a close combat weapon in the assault phase

Remember that, in close combat, pistols count as normal close combat weapons

Fighting with two single handed weapons

Some models are equipped with two single handed weapons they can use in close combat

While Pistols are mentioned as being 1 handed weapons in thier description (and other 1 handed Ranged weapon *do* exist, thanks to the armory), 1/2 handedness is a relic of armories and being dropped from newer codexes. Pistols can be used as Close Combat Weapons, as thier category has definied them as such. Some individual weapons can be used as Close Combat weapons for the same reason.

The NS (and agoniser is it?) while being 1 handed weapons, are not 'useable in close combat', as the 'Assault Weapon' section does not globally class Assault Weapons as Close Combat Weapons, and nor do thier individual descriptions.

(All this being said, my personal opinion hasn't changed that GW want the NS to be used as an extra CCW, but they worded the FAQ badly...)

But just like other, questionable rules grey areas, just agree something with your opponent. All I wanted to point out is this is something to keep an eye out when using the Cally, the best choice out of the bad bunch of assassins.
