Demonslayer
Why do we call them by such a name? To me wing= feathers= girly Wings mean they can fly away before the enemy get to close, Feathers are for dancing girls, :) What are they gonna do, turn up with a wing full of feathers and make you laugh to death? What we need is a name that will put fear into the enemy :P ok put more fear into them. How about something like; The Wolf-Claw, Wolf-Tooth, Fangs of Russ, Spear of Russ, Blade of Fernis or something better Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/197010-why-wolf-wing/ Share on other sites

Ullr Direfang
The Wolf-Claw, Blade of Fernis I like these two that you listed I call them Logan's Heroes myself. although this might just be the best (nearly died laughing when i read it). i have been saying the same thing since the dex came out. the last time it came up here i ask if we could call it something other then "wolf wing"(and almost got beaten with the Exterminatussock, by some of the members) because i think the "wing" idea should be left to the DA let them have something. and i personally think "wolf wing" is the cheesy-est sounding thing in the world. i am calling it a "Wolftime Strike Force" but Logan's Heroes has a ring to it..... <_< Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/197010-why-wolf-wing/#findComment-2347354 Share on other sites

Bran Scalphunter
So, is there a Death Korps of Krieg Commissar named Schultz that constantly shouts "I know nussing!" when asked about Logan's Heroes? Marshal Wilhelm
Once a term has been coined and used by others, it is near impossible to re-christen it. Sorry. :) Deathwing were the Terminator force, thus anyone following the pioneers/trend setters, etc. would always be dubbed in like terms because Deathwing are the yard stick for all other Terminator forces. This next bit isn't meant to sound harsh/critical, but if you try to rename it with a tough/cool name, people will think you are trying too hard and/or ask; do you mean Wolfwing? I think you'll be on a hiding to nothing. Have I encouraged you with my wet blanket? :D Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/197010-why-wolf-wing/#findComment-2347708 Share on other sites
Durfast Spiritwolf
Only place I have ever heard the term Wolfwing used is here - so it's not in general use as far as West London is concerned... Coverfire
Blame me if you dont like Wolfwing, as far as i know i was the first to come up with that. Well I thought I was the first and only one to call them Logan's Heroes.. so don't be so hard on yourself as you probably weren't... Edit. Did a search. Isiah Sep 2 2009, 11:13 AM QUOTE (Deathwing @ Sep 1 2009, 07:21 PM) I'm patiently awaiting the new SW codex and am very curious to see how a Wolfguard terminator army looks if it is posible (and more importantly what name they give it, lol). Tsuro
Deathwing were the Terminator force, thus anyone following the pioneers/trend setters, etc. would always be dubbed in like terms because Deathwing are the yard stick for all other Terminator forces. The problem is that the Dark Angels also have a Ravenwing and an Ironwing. If we had a character that gave us access to full bike/tank lists, would we call those forces Wolfwing as well? Kenmichi
Wolfwing is an inappropriate name because Logan doesn't allow you to take TDA units as Troops, he allows you to take Wolf Guard as Troops. You don't have to take a single TDA suit if you don't want to, Wolf Guard are much more versatile than the Deathwing. I'm fine with Logan's Heroes, but I feel a more appropriate name would include the word "guard" to show proper representation. Octavulg
Back when Lysander gave people Termies, it was Lysanderwing. Ultramarines using the Deathwing list are the Ultrawing. You guys are the Wolfwing. Have fun. :) If you aren't using Terminators, then it might not be a Wolfwing. But otherwise, it is. PKAwolf
I call them Logan's Heroes myself. WLK QFT this question came up right at the release of the dex and Logans Heroes was a fan fav but some how wolf wing stuck (to my dissapointment) i guess wolf wing just conveys the idea an all 'insert unit' army Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/197010-why-wolf-wing/#findComment-2347957 Share on other sites
Sarapham
"Wing" is a more international term because most who know of 40K know of Deathwing because they are related, but "Hogan´s Heroes" has nothing to do with 40K and I´m not sure many younger international generations know of it... no one in Sweden does at least :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/197010-why-wolf-wing/#findComment-2348027 Share on other sites

If you aren't fielding WG-TDA, then it is not WolfWing. "Wing" is a well-known military term used to mean "group" or "section". Hardly a "girlie" name! Personally, I'm not a fan of other Codexes getting access to DeathWing/WolfWing, it takes away from Dark Angels' uniqueness. :) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/197010-why-wolf-wing/#findComment-2348037 Share on other sites

Didn't think so so, if you want to call it by some silly little fruity name, be my guest. But I am going to call it something worthy to be associated with the Spaces Wolves." and if they feel like an argument, i would probably get my best impression of Dr. Cox(from Scrubs) going and basically work the fact that i wont move from my position to call it what i want and hope they respect it. also "wolfwing" sounds like it belongs in the movie "Waiting" so it is just generically iffy in every way.
