New Dread, Like input

Just finished(well almost finished) a new dreadnought I was going for an older model look but i also want it to work as a chaplain dread. Thought I'd post it here and see what you guys can suggest to make it more chaplain like. Keep in mind I'm not a great modeler or painter lol but I liked the look of the shield so it counts as extra armor along with the extra armor on the right side, I'm hoping to make an assault cannon being carried by cherubs to go along with it.

So what do you think?

Its a very good concept, and though the shield looks a bit big, I guess its in proportion to the dready. What may look a little better though, is if you make it cover the front of your dreadnought a little more, and have it resting on the ground, that may may make it look a little more practical.

Overall though, nice build ,and decent paint job =]

Also...this looks nothing like a Chaplain dready haha, sorry. I'd just keep it as a normal Dreadnought, and perhaps attempt a Chaplain dready when you have a little more modelling experience.

Yeah, I don't really think I'm going to do the chaplain route, after looking at it online more it really doesn't have any of the necessary details for it. I can't really move the shield over any more unless I make some gs ribbing to make it look like it's flexing over. I don't really want to due that either though so I can still have the option to change out the arms. I tried tilting it down and it does look better but when I do that it looks like it should have some sort of gun instead of the chainsword and I'm fresh out of big guns to put there but maybe when i get some more parts.

To do the base I started with a black base coat then i built up the layers of graveyard earth (a lot of layers). Then I did about 3 light layers of brown ink over everything and made sure to vary the levels to give it some depth. I used scorched brown in all the cracks and bullet wholes. I also put it along the bottom of the rock pieces sticking up. Any of the other details are just normal painting process. It's actually a really simple method that gives a good look. The images make it look shinier then it actually is. There's no fading, highlighting or anything like that to it, it's just paint and ink.
