Space Wolves 13th Company

I was a sad lad when I found out 13th had vanished back into the warp with the release of our new dex.

I had hoped that they'd throw in some new fluff along the lines of Logan pulling our lost brethren back into the Fang. I had some good times playing 13th Company ^_^.

The army above needs no more introduction by me. I've been a long time lurker among this forum and i thought it's finally time for me to share some of my work to you. My lost 13th company will finally be sealed up and be lost...

Some of my new SW work:

I dont know that i will get reply so fast...***Roar***

Yeh, true i too have wonderful times with my 13th. I wont be attempting to bring them back as chaos as i feel it'll ruin the entire favour of the 13th. Which is why, the main reason that i decided to seal them up and use them as display pieces.

I'm confused on why ppl think 13th co is gone?

Slayers: your standard GH's

Storm claws: Wolfguard

Fenrisian Wolves: same

Stormclaw bikers: Swift Claw bikers

Scouts: scouts

Gate psychic abiltiy? Converted drop pod

Thunderwolf cavalry make more sense than bikers (easier to maintain, fenrisian wolves subjected to the warp, etc...)

Sagas= Badass characters.

Mark of the Wulfen across the board, very fluffy.

All in all, I would say the 13th Co. is alive and well, if you just have the imagination to make your great company fluffy

haha, yes I know all this OID :), but the biggest thing I miss is the big packs of Wulven!! Which there is no substitute for at the moment.

Half my 13th Co. army was wulven, with 2x Slayers and 2x L.Fangs in support roles, and two packs of wolves acting as a forward blocking force. Very simple strats, but just good plain old mayhem fun. Versed Khorne, 2500pt, both armies raging towards each other... except that my wolves ran smack into the centre of his lines, so his whole army was tied in his deployment zone raging at my wolves :D. Wulven swarm from the back, and let the Mayhem ensue!!

Not to mention grabbing a double Melta pack of slayers and just bouncing around the back lines of the enemy destroying tanks :). Pods just aren't the same!!

Space Wolves are a good solid army with a hell of a lot of character, my standard force of choice, but 13th Co. was Space Wolves with hangovers and a bad case of rum rage!! They were just plain old great fun :). Yes, you can setup an army that will play much as 13th Co. would, but it's just not the same :).

Yeah but, they are beasts who have only close combat abilities and similar stats to a space marine... Fleet and 12" charge matches the Wulfen beastial theme, Im just saying whilst not perfect, it is a viable sub for them....

If you wanted to make a 13th I think they could work as a good proxy.....

Id for sure use them...

Plus you could do some cool mods for them....

But hey Opinions vary....

haha, my point is 13th Co. HAD Fenrisian wolves, with, as I remember, the same stats as the ones currently in our dex. So the Fenrisian wolves are well... 13th Co. Fenrisian wolves :P.

I forget the exact stats, but from memory Wulven are something like WS4, BS-, S5, T4, W1, I5, A3, Ld8, Sv3+, with rending. Don't have an EoS codex so can't check, but I'm sure someone has it. Having that 3+ Sv makes a big difference. Best current option would probably acctually be a unit of WG with upgrades, but without the dex in front of me, I'm pretty sure even WG can only have one/unit with MotW, so closest thing would be giving all the rest P.Weaps or W.Claws.

Anyway, yes, probably some ways to make things similar in stats to Wulven, but they're still just not Wulven :). No matter how close a substitute may be, they're still just that, a subsitute. Call me picky :P

WS5, BS-, S5, T4, W1, I5, A2+1, LD10, SV3+, rending, animal rage, only wolf priest can join.

great model, but at 24 pts a pop, pricey.

You could sub this with standard wolfguard, minus the rending (maybe throw in some PW's for the same effect)

Either way, I love 13th co and I plan on my next company of wolves to be exactly that. Drop pods=gate, saga of the warrior born=mark of the wulfen on an HQ. It's very comparable...just not QUITE the same. No reason to shelve the minis tho ;)
