a question regarding fallen angels

ive gone out of order with the heresy do to my dad losing fallen angels and me being too cheap to buy another copy, luckily the dark angels story is a bit of a side event however it did leave me with a question

on reading 1ksons it seems that the chaplains where set up after nikea and id guess nikea was before the heresy started or at least before it came into the BIG E's knowledge so how are there both librarians and chaplains in the first legion in this book?

The first book actually ends with the Psyker character being knocked back from being a Libbie to being a normal Battle-Brother.

So obviously the whole "End it with the Librarian stuff" was after the end of Decent of Angels.

Because when Fallen Angels starts he's just a normal battle-brother.

Well Horus was at Isstvan III while Fallen Angels was going on and Nikea was just after Ullanor. I doubt that in the time between them leaving for Nikea and them arriving that the events in the first 3 HH books could have taken place. I think Nikea was also mentioned in False Gods if memory serves correctly. I'm pretty sure Fallen Angels is after Nikea.

The DA left on Calican were hardly pro-Imperium at the time and this also assumes they had received and fully processed the orders at that point. Put simply either they got the order and ignored it or they hadn't got the message at that point in the book.

what? No he isn't. It mentions he is a 'brother librarian' a number of times in fallen angels, and the psychic exercises brother-librarian isfrael (again uses that title) has had him doing.

Fallen Angels mainly takes place AFTER the Drop Site Massacre, with El'Jonson predicting that Horus is going to need certain weapons in order to take Terra.

Need to go back over the first part of the book and check on any time table mentioned separating Descent of Angels' ending.

Chaplains, however, predate the ruling at Nikea. Erebus is a chaplain of the Word Bearers

He didn't know Peturabo was a traitor. The book takes place after Istvaan III but before the Drop Site Massacre though i'll admit its been a long while since I read it.

The other theory people put about is that Lion El'Jonson is being smart and playing both sides but I personally believe that's hogwash.
