Brother Horse
Finally figured out a colour scheme for the Sanguinary Guard for my Flesh Tearers, didn't want it to be the uber shiny BA ones, so I based mechrite red, drybrushed shining gold and then light mitril and washed with ogryn flesh. I kept the shoulder pads and wings black with mithril drybrushing to keep it in tone with the Flesh Tearers I'm working on in between my Crimson Fists. The sword I did redish just because all my Crimson Fists have light blue power weapns and I wanted something different ;) http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh36/ulhorse/return4118.jpg http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh36/ulhorse/return4117.jpg http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh36/ulhorse/return4116.jpg http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh36/ulhorse/return4115.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/197479-brother-horses-flesh-tearers-painting-blog/ Share on other sites

Brother 'Ussell
Solid tabletop quality paintjob+, also bonus points for the base. Drill out the barrel and scrape those mould lines! I'm not sure I'm digging the strange thing they got going on with the helmet top on these models, just seems clumsy to me. Chaplain Desmodus
I like it. If I were you, I'd darken the gold even more by adding some washes. Purple, red, flesh wash would work nicely. Brother Horse
got a second guy done, cant seem to brighten up my photos for some reason. need to get good lighting for them, but the side one shows that they are still pretty bright. I'm also quite happy that he defys gravity so well on his base http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh36/ulhorse/return4123.jpg http://i252.photobucket.com/albums/hh36/ulhorse/return4120.jpg Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/197479-brother-horses-flesh-tearers-painting-blog/#findComment-2355355 Share on other sites

Espada Azul
I really like the worn-out look that the paint scheme conveys, but it's still far too 'clean' for the Flesh Tearers. No plans on doing weathering or paint chipping effects? -Q-
Flesh Tearers are Imperial Marines and despite any bedtime stories from scared Guardsmen (or wussy Ultras ;)) they are a professional prideful Chapter. There is no reason to expect that they wouldn't care for their sacred armor keeping it clean and in good repair between battles. In fact I find it all the more important that they remain as disciplined as possible to help prevent themselves and their Battle Brothers from needlessly falling to the Curse when every Soul is so vital to the Chapter's survival, Sanguinius' legacy, and service of the Emperor. Aheh. So don't weather if you won't want to :D As for these models I would suggest trying at least one with a black helmet. I think it was a smart way to go with the blackened shoulderpads and shoulderpad decor. If you don't want to go fully black, try just the face part in black with the halo still in gold. I myself am doing something similar to what I mention. The black helmet/shoulderpad combo is what pulls the Flesh Tearers apart visually so go all the way with it! ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/197479-brother-horses-flesh-tearers-painting-blog/#findComment-2360367 Share on other sites
