Ragnars Claw
Does anyone bother with this? I think i should take it because mobility is important but others i talk to say its not worth paying nearly a half of the transports points again for the 1 in 6 chance it could come in useful. Vash113
Always, always, always, always. I always wind up with stunned transports, nearly every game and the ability to just keep rolling regardless is incredibly usefull. When my Grey Hunters or Blood Claws get stalled its a very bad thing, I alawys want my transports to keep moving and get my troops where they need to go and grab those objectives. CainTheHunter
Yes I do. The same goes for dreadnoughts. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/197639-extra-armour-on-rhinos/#findComment-2354247 Share on other sites
Godhead
Oddly enough i never take it. My transports either live or die, there doesn't seem like much middle ground for me. captain fabian
I would like to take them but I dont. The reasons are 2. First my transports get blasted, immobilised, reduced to scrap immediately or they survive the enemy shooting despite his whole army firing on them. Secondly I want them to be cheap, because they ARE going to die. Uncooked
Yeah I always spend the points on Extra Armour as I can never afford for any of my units to get left on their own. Having played other army I have noticed that one thing is always a constant - the more bodies you can throw into an enemy strong points, the higher the survivability chances because your presenting more units for them to shoot at. People always shoot at my vindicator first though, so my transports always get to where they need by turn two against stuff like str6/7/8 usually have good survivability odds for me, and the extra armour makes it all the better. I think people have got the wrong end of the stick when they say extra armour only has 1/6th chance of working, as the idea is to keep the tank moving, so there is a 5/6 chance that your rhino will still be moving against a glancing hit and a 1/2 a chance that you will be moving against a penetrating hit. which are better then the odds of not moving at all! Stormbrow II
I never take it. Boys before toys is one of my golden rules: I'd rather have a larger Troops choice than have shiny toys on my tanks/units. I don't use my GH (who are typically in my Rhinos) to spearhead assaults - that gets left to other faster units (Twolves) and the GH are there to support so having multiple units makes it more likely that I have something reaching the enemy lines. I do know some others (Antique_Nova for one) swear by it but it depends upon what role you have in mind for your tanks. BrotherRanik
I used to take it all the time. But that was when I played a 5+ rhino assault army. And getting stunned turn 1 is really annoying. Now though, I normally have a rune priest in one of my two rhinos, going 6" and shooting out of it, so I don't really bother taking extra armor. All I can say is sometimes it can be a game changer and other times it can be a waste of points. hendrik
in my lists i give it to any vehicle costing over 50 pts, not that i play that often but if you really want to know how to make rhinos work talk to max, he knows the way ;) Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/197639-extra-armour-on-rhinos/#findComment-2354672 Share on other sites
