Flesh Tearers WIP

Recommended Posts

I have finished half of my tac squad! for me this is a BIG deal. I really don't have time to paint ;)

These guys look a lot better on the table top than in these close up pics! The battle worn effect is new for me, and I think that for me it makes sense that the Flesh Tearers would look this way.

I am really happy with my flamer guy. I like the pilot light on his flamer.

Is the stippled paint effect on the bottom on purpose or just sloppy?

The brass and black effects are good, but it is very hard to pick out the red from amongst it.

I believe the effect you are referring to is battle damage and chipped paint on the armor. I think it looks pretty good. A gritty theme well executed.

For battle damage I would use a thin brush and use a small stripe of black with a really light white or dheneb stone underlight instead of using straigt metallic. It will keep your damage subtle but keep it looking distressed.

The squad has great coherency.

Excited for Seth?

I love the weatherd battle damaged look, doing this style myself.

Not sure if you are painting the silver with a brush but it looks so. Try using a green scruby, dip it in the silver then dab most of the paint off. It gives a really random realistic pattern.

Try painting one in silver then apply the red partially where you don't want damage, then final red with the scruby. This gives the effect of it truly being scratched up as the silver will be underneath the red just as it would be in reality.

The pattern that some dish sponges provide is just too big I like the green scouring pads the best. Unless you can find a quality sponge with VERY small holes at an art supply store.

@ Brother_Kaelgrim

If you are referring to the battle damage then yes it is on purpose, and not sloppy painting (ouch! you hurt my feelings :P )

If you are not referring to the battle damage, could you be a little more specific please, I am not sure what you mean.

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

Good Work Fellow Tearer of Flesh I too am Awaiting the Arival of our Chapter Master and already have a plan for a minor conversion on him already.....I plan on changing his Cape so it will be a ChainMail Cape with a Leather inner  Far more brutal looking IMO . However I have one minor gripe the Gold Helmet it is just a little bit out of place since we dont bother with the different colours to denote Vets but other than that They are GREAT.

I was also planning on doing some work on the cloak! I am not going to use the backpack and cape that Seth comes with because it seems "too fancy" with the wings and halo on it. I am going to sculp a weathered/torn cloak from GS, and give him a regular backpack.

I am still torn as to whether or not to keep the vet's helmets gold in my army or not............................. are you using any form of distinction for rank in your force at all?

Not really aye about the only thing to make the sarge look different will be either Weapon loadout or he will have the armour with the neckguard or both and 90% will have their helmets on the only ones that will not are likely to be Seth and His HG but other than that Im not sure yet still havent bought a great deal due to being between jobs.

I feel your pain LOL!!!

I am a full time student, so I have no time OR money :( I just keep digging through my bitz box and putting together what I can. The bright side is that I am catching up on my painting

I am thinking that I am going to black out the Vet's helmet.

Have you made a list for your FTs yet?

I actually like the look of the pure DC armies :) I think that would be SO fun to play, AND it would be great fluff wise for the FTs ;)

I have finished undercoating the remaining 5 members of the tac squad, and have assembled a 5 man Terminator squad. I will undercoat the Termie's AND a squad of 5 CC scouts this weekend. I am really on a painting roll.

Just finished my first ten man tac squad!!!!!

I decided to change the sarg's helmet from gold to black to keep with the FT's dark, non flashy theme.

I was hopeing to get some advice on how to paint my scouts.

I am giving them red body armour and black shoulder pads, but I am not sure what colour to paint their clothes (pants and jackets)?

Any suggestions?

I was thinking that the colour should be dark.........something like; Brown.

Thanks AG,

I decided to go dark in order to be consistant. Here is my WIP scout so far.

Any suggestions are welcome............advice on faces/skin would also be helpful, because I do not paint them very often.

i have a question for you, or anyone who can answer it really. I am starting a Flesh Tearers force as well, and i have no clue how to paint their vehicles. Mostly red? mostly black? except for the dreadnought i have no clue. I assume dreadnought would be painted the same as a marine.

Just finished my first FT Terminator squad!!!

Just the usual GS FT symbols, and a couple of head swaps....The sarg is sporting a scratch built bionic left arm, and metal Terminator captain left arm, he also has a GS razor addition to that arm.

Wow the bionic arm on the Termie sarge looks great, I can't wait to Seth!

Thanks! The arm is a bunch of wires, some GS, and A LOT of time AND patients.

I can't wait till Seth either.

I think I may pick him up soon.......I have an ultramarine Dread that has been begging me to Flesh Tearerize it! So I think that will be first ;)
