Flesh Tearers WIP

Recommended Posts

Man you're productive. I'm green with envy...

The termies are looking great, love the additional FT details and the bionic arm.

Your scout's face could do with some more clear-cut shading to bring out the shape of the face and make it look a bit more defined. I'd recommend some layers of thinned shade (whatever you use for your skin tone), painted manually into the creases. Use very little paint as to prevent it from spilling but make sure it's thinned down to an inky consistence so that he doesn't end up looking like Michael Jackson.

Productive!? ME!? ;)

I will only be productive for a week or two more at the most. Uni is back in for the summer soon :)

Anyways...... I sculpted some nice extra Fleash Tearer bits onto an old Dread last night, so I should be able to base him today :)

EVEN IN DEATH I STILL SERVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I still have two arms to paint for this guy, but I really wanted to post some pics of my progress :D

I decided to add a little bit of bling to this guy compared to the others......I gave him gem blood drops on his chapter symbols, and a chalice (all from GS) I figured that if a Flesh Tearer can resist the black rage for long enough to become too great of an asset to his chapter to be lost, that he deserved a gem or two!!! LOL

wow your dread is a bomb!

great work!

maybe a little bit too much weathering for my opp, but its your decision!

make a overall pic please :)

LOL! I don't think you are alone in your opinion that my Flesh Tearers are to weathered. ;)

I like them that way though..... I am not sure why the consensus seems to be that a Chapter on the brink of extinction, reknown for its ferocity, and disregard for appearances would be shinny................... Oh well, like you said....each to their own.

Here are the last two arms......yes they are battle worn. LOL.

I have followed your works without commenting yet.

Your twin dreds, in my honest opinion, shine far above anything you have previously done. This is odd in the sense that people normally have a lot of trouble putting proper wear and tear on large vehicles or walkers, they either go too much or too little. You have captured the essence of the All or Nothing attitude of the Flesh Tearers in those two ancients, and you have really used the large surfaces on the models to your advantage. You should be proud of them.

One thing though, a criticism, I can see the level to which you are capable of really putting tone and feel into your army, and that itself brings their character to life. Your dreds do this with shining colors. Please take what you learned when painting them, and re-apply that to your future marines you do. If you only toned down (or were a little more neat and precise) with the weathering on your infantry, the difference would be ground breaking, much like the quality in which you achieved in your ancients.

Do Cretacia proud.

Thank you Candleshoes,

I appreciate your feed back and advice

Unfortunately, there is only one Dread....It is plastic, and I have just swaped the arms in the photos to show all of its componants :(

I am finding that as I continue to paint my Tearers I am becoming more comfortable with the techniques I have chosen to use, it is great to hear that they are improving, thank you.

I am either going to paint my scouts or a Jump pack assault squad next....I hope that I can achieve even more inprovement on them. I will take your advice and be " a little more neat and precise" :HQ:.......but not too neat of course!!! :P

FOR CRETACIA!!!

Thank you all for your feed back,

I was begining to think that I was the only one that thought Flesh Tearers should be battle worn :o

I know that my technique is not the most advanced....but, I am able to paint what I consider to be an above table top quality miniature in a very reasonable time. To answer an above question, the battle damage does not increase the painting time much. I apply watered down boltgun metal (with a bruch) and apply a Badab blck wash to remove some of the shine.

Here a couple of terrible shots taken before my partner left town with our camera. Sorry for the quality, but I was in a rush to get them done. I am 90% done the scouts, and you can also see all of the FTs that I have finished to date.

I will post more pics when my partner returns with the camera.

Comments on everything EXCEPT the quality of the pictures is welcomed ;)

So I am thinking that it is time to get myself a Gabriel Seth!

I want to put him in a Razorback with an Honour guard, but I am not sure how to equip them.

I am thinking that I will buy a box of DC to use for the HG.

Here are my ideas so far:

1 Standard bearer with chainsword and either a bolt, flamer, or inferno pistol

1 Company champion with power sword, combat shield and either a bolt, flamer, or inferno pistol

1 Thunder hammer (the two handed set up from the DC box)

1 Heavy flamer (are these legal? I scratch built one), and

1 chainsword and either a bolt, flamer, or inferno pistol

I am undecided as which pistols the HG should take because I want the squad to be versatile.

Feed back will be GREATLY appreciated
