One Drop Pod

Greetings Brothers. I'm curious as I only have one drop pod in my army, that I rarely use because I'm not sure about the Drop Pod Assault ruling. I know that it's half your drop pods rounded up come in on turn one. But as it say drop pod"s" plural i'm not sure if that would count for just one Drop pod. So my question is, if I only take one drop pod, does that said drop pod "HAVE" to come on turn one? Or can I hold it in reserve and roll for it starting on turn two? Thanks to you all ahead of time.

A mistake I always see people making when they use drop pods is landing them in impossible positions, where they can be easily isolated and picked off.

Just make sure your not over-ambitious when you drop it, as you make just lose those troops in the following shooting and assault phase.

Yes you do have to land the Drop Pod your first turn. I always find that giving the first turn to my opponent helps in deciding where the best position to land it is :P

Yes, you HAVE to come in on turn 1.

This is why most people will put a suicide unit in it, or something really tough like a vendread.

Personally, I feel if your going to use them then use them to good effect- where they can hurt the enemy and stay alive while you move up to support them.

Yeah, agree with GM. Be careful being too cautious. I've learned that the hard way in the past. If it is a dread a good option is to equip with a Multi Melta and take something out big (land raider).

Bjorn "would be" fun :) Unfortunately he cannot take Drop Pod... he follows the "on feet, just as Russ intended" way :D

However... yeah I have to try the venerable dreadnought in the drop pod too! :)

Well, if you're playing with the IA Lucius drop pod, you could. Open to all variants of dreadnought if you wanted (and your regular opponents don't get bent out of shape over IA stuff)...
