Brother Captain Achilles
First image in my head was a mobile Dreadnought repair platform. But that tanks looks amazing! Cant wait to see it all painted up and finished. Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/197718-open-topped-rhino-wip/#findComment-2355176 Share on other sites
averykess
Very interesting looking. I am wondering what it will look like painted. From a game standpoint it looks like a tremendously cheesy/beardy game-breaker. Nicorex
Very interesting looking. I am wondering what it will look like painted. Me too! ;) I am not that great of a painter. I can make some neet conversions though. In game turns this is supposed to be a Rhino based Ammo Carrier/Utility vehicle, that has been pressed into front line servive. So I plan on painting it a basic metal color but with lots of weathering and dirt(if I can pull that off). From a game standpoint it looks like a tremendously cheesy/beardy game-breaker. Well I dont think so. Plus it cant actually transport jumppack equiped assault squads. Those are just the closest minis I had on hand when I was taking the pic. You can find the rules for this "Flattop" Rhino and other Chaos Updated Vehicles here. http://www.bolterandchainsword.com/index.p...howtopic=196764 When I am done making this one, my next project is the "Onslaught Pattern" Rhino. I posted the wrong link.. Im an idot... Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/197718-open-topped-rhino-wip/#findComment-2355199 Share on other sites

As long as it can't transport jump pack squads, it is OK. ;) I think the +1" movement rule (from the writeup in the link above) doesn't fit with how vehicle movement works. Nicorex
I think the +1" movement rule (from the writeup in the link above) doesn't fit with how vehicle movement works. Its just "Red ones go fasta" rule from C: Orks. I just justified it by saying its a lighter vehicle. If you want to disscue it more please post in my Chaos vehicle thread, since this isnt really WIP now, Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/197718-open-topped-rhino-wip/#findComment-2355237 Share on other sites
Nicorex
BLAMO! New Pics! I got a little more work done. added a front bumper, some trim edging and figured out the rear tommylift gate. I can now actually place 12 models on/in this contraption. I need to finish the manipulator arm, add some chaos gubbins, final clean up and then think about paint. Untill then enjoy some pic's. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v107/Nicorex/DSCN1859.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v107/Nicorex/DSCN1858.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v107/Nicorex/DSCN1860.jpg The black lining I added so you could see the edge of the trim. The white on white plactic card wasnt showing up well in the pics. FlamingDeth
If it's not too late I would ad some sort of tread housing on the sides of the flat-top thingy. As is, it looks like the treads just cease to exist past a certain point. Doesn't have to be as big as the rhino side wall normally is, but 5mm or so of basically angled box would give the treads somewhere to go without ruining the aesthetic. Nicorex
A ) its way to late for that Cardnial V... B ) I will try to illistrate(man way off on that spelling) how the treads work in my head. I wish I could use photoshop or MS paint to make my point but I cant.. so here it is in ASCII If we were looking at it from the left side so to the left is the rear of the tank. The treads follow this line. (Sorry that its carppy, but I hope it gets my point across) _______/--\ \_________/ (hehe kind looks like Jabba the Hutt) I know realisticly thats 2 more turn than a tread should take, But this isnt reality its 40K, plus to keep the cargo bed ontop of the tracks would place any models way high up in the air.
