Steel & Zeal - An Actual Scale Black Templar Crusade

They look a little dull, but I guess it is early stages. To be honest, I have found this project slightly disappointing, as the marines still have terminator arms, terminator lack of abdomen and bow legged terminator poses. With your work on scratch sculpting loads of demons I thought you could pull off marines that look more like marines and less like terminator conversions.

 

As for the dreads, I think the leg modifications you have planned might look alright. I'd like to have seen them scaled up, but that's just me.

Are you true scaling your dreads?

The dreads will be get slightly bigger, say twice the height of a marine. I won;t make them wider as their already too wide. What they need is more depth. The main thing with them will be building new working legs that can actually move. That;s going to take sometime to get the first set right, then I'll "magic" the other ones. The key there is a getting a working knee joint. That and the hydraulic hoses and cabling will be more form fitting rather that hanging out waiting to get chopped.

Man when I clicked on this I was like "I totally hate BTs and "Actual" scale marines."

Consider my opinion changed. Perhaps only in relation to your work.

 

I think Trygon is a little right that they still look like termies, but they have different enough proportions that it doesn't matter. They read as marines. I like all the conversion and kid bashing and stamping and sculpting you have done, all the details are very sharp. The only thing I'm not convinced of are some of the poses. It's probably a personal feeling I have about "dynamic" marines. But some of them look a bit awkward. But there are also some very strong poses.

All in all A+.

 

Now you need a BT Girl and you'll be all set :D

Homes. Female marines are illogical, cos' with space marines war is very lumberjacky(chain-swords, power fists etc)- and we all know men make better lumberjacks. Now- for a shooting race, I have no problem with women... but space marines? Men just decapitate people with oversized weapons better.

Thanks, I be painting a couple test minis this week, to try out Zenithal Highlighting the Black. The horde still needs some putting and sanding in places. Then I have the banners, tabards, belts, and chain mail to GS. I learned a super-quick way to do the chain-mail, so I do a small tutorial on that. There will also be a number of GS banners in the army. One of my favorite images from "Kingdom of Heaven" is all the banners and pennants carries by the crusaders.
