Warhorse47
Okay new con trying to resurrect one that ran for 20+ years and was killed by ineptitude in Carbondale Illinois. 1500 points each, 11 players, 3 of us Space Wolves. One of our Wolf Brothers won the tourney overall, with excellent use of drop pods and I went 2-2. Here's the report: Force Ragnar Rune Priest Mikal Runic Armor Chooser JOWW Tempest 10x Gray Hunters Flamer Melta, standard Rune Priest Irlin Runic Armor LL Storm Caller 10x Gray Hunters Flamer Melta Iron Priest Firenze TWolf Mount [Daisy] 4 Cyber Wolves $ Twolf Cavalry 1 PW, 2 Plasma Pistols Crusader Extra Armor, melta Okay, first game against a Salamander list that didnt include Vulkan. A coople of Speeders A LAnd Raider and a Vindicator with 2 dreads and a couple of troop choices in Rhinos. Lets just say this was one of those games where the Sallies couldn't miss and I couldn't roll a save for love or money. By the end of his 3rd turn, I had Ragnar, Mikal and an immobilized Land Raider! He had lost NOTHING! I conceded at that point to a really good player who had one of those games you laugh about later. Game 2 against Tau went much better. He placed the objective marker and then I won choice of sides and was able to seize the objective, inside a building on my opening turn. Irlin and his pack of Gray Hunters would stand their ground against the Tau from there through out the battle. Meanwhile Ragnar, Mikal and the other pack of Gray Hunters rode the Raider towards the enemy trying to outflank us. Firenze led his combined unit onward to attack first his stealth suits, destroying them, then proving that TWC thinks of Kroot packs as delicious doggie treats leaving ony 1 kroot alive with one wound lwft! The Raider meanwhile was blowing a Piranha out of the sky and then chasing the Crisis suit teams in a long run around the board. The game ended with my holding the objective, and winning on 3 kill points to none. Game 3 against BA This one was a lot tougher, as the BA player understood his codex and had built accordingly. Death Company with Lemartes, assault squads, drop pod, and good troops. The game truly was decided by the Rune Priests. Dangerous terrain claimed 5 of his Assault Marines on their arrival, this one event swung that little bit of an edge to my favor as my Twolfs were able to wipe out the other 5 in one turn then. Irlin and his pack wiped out his blood thirsting regular troops in 2 turns of savage combat that saw that pack reduced to 6 Hunters and Irlin. His 5 TH/SS Termis were able to immobilize my Land Raider, losing one Termi in the process. Meanwhile his Death Company with jump packs and Lemartes crashed into Ragnar, Mikal and their pack. Counter charge and Ragnar's bump didn't help much as the Initiative went to the DC and Lemartes. 9 Gray Hunters fell, taking 4 of the DC with them. Ragnar slew Lemartes in single combat and the Arrival of Firenze and his 2 remaining cyber wolves allowed the final defeat of the last of the DC. Meanwhile the other Twolves and the remains of Irlin's pack arrived and finally managed to destroy the termis. The game ended at his point, with each of us holding one objective but I won on Kill points. Game 4 against Eldar This was capture the flag. Unfortunately, my opponent won first move and I wasn't able to steal it. His Warp Spiders grabbed the marker and took off for the hills. Well, my Land Raider managed to fry several of the buggers, but couldn't get them all. They kept going, and going and going, well like the Road Runner with Wile E. Coyote after him. After the final turn I had killed 3 of his hover tanks, and Viper, two other units and had only lost 2 Twolves and 4 Gray Hunters,. but he still had the blessed marker! So, I lost his one, but don't feel too badly about today. The first game was such an aberration that you can't really judge from it, except that Vindis, when they hit, are monsters!, The last 3games showed what can be done against good opponents and were good games all around. Chodjinn
Nice, but I reckon you really need a storm shield or two for the TWC, they're so expensive is not worth running them without at least 1 Link to comment https://bolterandchainsword.com/topic/197864-1500-point-rogue-trader-tourney-today/#findComment-2362634 Share on other sites

Wolf Guard Nostromo
Death Company and Lemartes v Ragnar and posse - truly the stuff of saga's. I empathise with you on the salamanders game - we all have one of those occasionally... I had one a couple of weeks ago, with Vulcan present. I failed my years supply of saves and conceded in 4 turns - The smoking remains of my vehicles was nearly all that was left  . I had deployed pretty badly but other than that did little wrong except fail to check if his dice were loaded!
