If I give a Rune Priest Saga of the beast slayer can he reroll living lightning to hits? If so what mathhammer does that make for killing the dread?

That is really a difficult one to "Math hammer", because of all the variables.

 

But Twin-linking Living Lightning against Walkers and Monstrous Creatures, heck and anything else T5 and above can't be bad...

As it has been discussed, nothing in the wording implies that the Saga of the Beastslayer works for close combat only, so until it is FAQ-ed, the RP may reroll to hits.

Against Av. 12 the chance of 1 glance/pen/destroyed

1- 16.2% glance, 16.2% pen. (5.4% destroyed)

2- 32.4% glance, 32.4% pen. (10.8% destroyed)

3- 48.6% glance, 48.6% pen. (16.2% destroyed)

4- 64.8% glance, 64.8% pen. (21.6% destroyed)

5- 81% glance, 81% pen (O.27 destroyed)

6- 97.2% glance, 97.2% pen (32.4% destroyed)

 

Average chance of 56.7% glance, 56.7% pen (18.9% destroyed)

 

However thats averages at 18.9% Immobilized/ 18.9% wep. destroyed aswell.

Going with the averages

You average 3.5 shots with the attack

 

(NO Chooser)

Means you hit 2.31

You need a 5 to glance and 6 to pen so you get about .76 damage results per attack (.38 glance, .38 pen)

Which is .13 destroyed results

 

With a chooser

It is about .16 Destroyed results.

 

This means (other than taking it out one piece at a time) In a 5 turn game You should expect to kill it about 1/2 of the time.

You dont seem to have taken the Bs5/Reroll to hit into account

BS 5 doesn't reroll. Page 18 in the pocket rulebook has the chart. BS 6 or higher gets to reroll 1's, and the reroll is harder to hit with. For example, if you have BS 6 and you roll a 1, you can reroll it, but it only hits on a 6. The chart fully explains it.

Shouldn't the chance of failing the power going off in the first place also be calculated?

Good catch littlbitz, ok then, Average 17.4% chance of destroying it with 5.56% chance of perils.

So not a great dread killer but for 10 points a great deal, not too mention what it could do to bike packs
